“Nice Hotel Just Out of City Center”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

We stayed for 2 nights in the annex across the street in a ground level room that was cozy and comfortable. The staff was great and breakfast was good. The hotel is in a relatively quiet neighborhood about 6 blocks from the train station up a small hill, but we took taxis to/from as it was raining at those times. Taxi fare was surprisingly reasonable considering everything else. There are 2 or 3 very good restaurants withi a block of the hotel, but others in city center are about 15-20 minute walk away. We were able to easily walk to all local tourist sites from the hotel (and we're not big hikers). Bergen is a great small town!

The hotel and its staff are warm and inviting. Yes, the hotel is old without any elevator and the rooms doesn't have a wardrobe and a minibar, but the view from the hotel and the nice staff makes it up for it. The room rent is also less than any hotel near the city center.

Perhaps the spread on the breakfast buffet can change/increase a bit.

Room Tip: Always ask for room 24 or a room with a view.

I attended a seminar at the university and stayed here for one night, but would have liked to stay longer! The location is great for university guests, but if you wish to explore the city be prepared to walk up and down the hill. I got a large and airy room in the 2nd floor of the annex, across the street from the hotel. It was very quiet - the other guests must have been very quiet because I dont't think that the walls were that soundproof. The bed was comfortable, but reading light could have been better. Free wifi worked well, and there was a small fridge in the room (but no safe). The breakfast room was a bit small but breakfast was tasty, and the staff exceptionally friendly.

This is a perfectly good hotel but it feels a bit overrated. The service was good, breakfast was fine. We stayed in the annex across the road from the main building, so felt the room lost some of the main hotel character. It's in a residential area about 15 mins from the centre, on there way there are a few places to so off and means you are probably more likely to make the effort to find somewhere different. Overall, good but felt like it was a bit too hyped.

We stayed here for one night on a recent trip to Norway in a very well decorated room (11) in the main hotel building. All staff were really helpful and made us welcome. The hotel is up a fairly steep hill from the town centre, but it's a short walk and hills are hard to avoid here! The hotel is in a nice, quiet area. Breakfast was traditional Norwegian with fish, meats, cheese, jams etc. Plentiful and very nice. Tea / coffee and home made cake are served during the day. We left our bags during the day as we had a late flight and were invited back for coffee and cake before leaving. A nice touch.

Bergen is a charming city with a small town feel and the Hotel Park is an excellent choice if you're looking for a large, cozy, spotlessly clean room in a quiet but fairly central location. I felt right at home, slept extremely well and really liked the breakfast. Staff is unusually friendly. Also - at least when measured by Norwegian standards - the price was absolutely adequate. The Hotel Park is an excellent choice with a homely feel and I'll happily stay here again in the future.
