“The brownies score again!”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

The problem (no keep reading!) with a Hotel like this is that while you know that just outside the door, there are the world acclaimed sites of Bergen to explore - there is just a little part of you that would like to curl up with a good book, a coffee and a brownie (or two), and enjoy what is a truly wonderful, comfortable and relaxing little nest.
Lovely friendly and helpful staff, a creatively eclectic decor, a simple but perfectly formed breakfast and the piece de resistance - you come away with the recipe for the much admired and talked about brownies.

Dear guest :-)

Than you so much for the great review . It means a lot for the staff end me that our guests enjoy
their stay with us. The free brownie, coffee and tea is very popular. During the night we make 2 big brownies every day.

Welcome back to us another time!

Best regards

Stayed here for 4 days during a visit to Bergen.Staff were all very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay.We had a room in the annex just across from the main building. The room was very nice with all that one would need.Breakfast was lovely lots of fresh produce constantly being replenished.Hotel is about 10 minutes from Bergen centre there are some steep hills but there are ways of getting to the hotel avoiding the steepest .If you are not keen on the big chain hotels then give Hotel Park a go you will not be disappointed

breakfast was excellent
we stayed at the building in front of the hotel which also has rooms. The first floor is close to the street which is a small one , but you can hear noises.

Room Tip: Try to get a higher floor at the back of the main building

We stayed five nights at this hotel. I loved the feel and decor of the hotel as it had warmth and atmosphere, in a clean modern setting, with the character of antique furnishings. The staff were generally very helpful and friendly.
Breakfasts were very good and well presented, though it was difficult to access food if two other people were at the food counter, maybe a rethink of the set up would help the flow.
I used the ear plugs provided by the hotel.
We had been traveling in Scandinavia for four weeks. When we arrived at the hotel one of the questions we asked was about available laundries. We were given the location of one. When we finally found it, it had closed down. So we washed the basics each night, there was no room to dry large pieces of clothing. We accepted this situation, until the final evening. We had decided, on returning to the hotel that we would finalize our account. To my suprise I saw a washing machine and dryer in a small room next to reception being use by other guests. I commented about there being laundry facilities, to which the receptionist replied that it is only used by guests in "an emergency". I was so angry I had to go up to my room before I said something I would regret. Not the best way to feel after such a good stay.

The hotel lobby and breakfast area are nicely decorated with and have a vintage feel. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of options available. Coffee, tea and brownies are available any time through the day, which is a nice touch.

This hotel is located about 10 minutes (uphill!) walk from the city center, but worth the trek. It appeared to be a refurbished historic building with lots of charm. The front desk was helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was small (not too many hot items) but sufficient. Tea and coffee and brownies (!) were served all day. My room was a reasonable size and offered a lovely view over the city; it was at the top floor which requires a lot of stairs-climbing (and no lift). My only issue was the price, which I thought was high (even considering that everything in Norway is expensive!).

Room Tip: For a great city view, ask for a top floor room with window view.

The staff of this hotel are extremely helpful and courteous with providing directions, dining suggestions, walking routes, and just plain helpful. We had a spacious room on the top floor which was quite comfortable. I would say the only problem was the shower, which could definitely be larger. Also, there is no elevator (lift). Aside from that, we enjoyed our breakfast very much. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel provided homemade brownies/cakes along with tea and coffee all day/evening. It is within walking distance to the downtown historic area.
