Owner description: Bryggens Museum allows you to experience life in medieval Bergen, and the museum has been built over the remains of the first settlement at Bryggen. The oldest buildings are from the 12th century, and the various finds have been left in the ground where they were found by the archaeologists. Bryggens Museum also hosts temporary art displays and themed exhibitions, and it is the starting place for Bryggen Guiding, which is a historic walk through Bryggen's past that goes from Bryggens Museum through the old wooden buildings to the Hanseatic Museum. Until the 15th of May, the museum is open monday until friday from 11 until 15, saturday and sunday from 12 until 16. In the season from 15 May until 31 august the museum is open every day form 10 until 16.

Tucked away is this wonderfull little museum, could easily be missed but make the effort to search it out. Even if this is not your thing the old buildings and narrow alley ways make it fun.

Small museum with some interesting archeological finds on display, notably remains of burned medieval houses, however there is very limited translation, slow videos. Not worth the considerable fee.

This is a nice museum and some of the descriptions are in English but not all. One floor is dedicated to postcards which are quite interesting. Not amazing but perfectly pleasant. Nice staff.

The remains of old burned-out houses, a jetty and a ship are on display with explanations of the various phases of development, destruction and redevelopment over the last millenium.

Fairly small museum given the size of the building from outside, and the story told could have been more informative and structured for the visitor.

An OK visit.
