“Now a P Hotel and noisy!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2012

Since our booking this hotel has merged with the P-Hotel next door. All the reviews in relation to the P-Hotel in Bergen now apply. We were initially placed in the old P-Hotel. Rooms are basic, but clean and OK for the price. Breakfast is a sandwich apple and orange juice, hung in a bag on the outside door handle. Unfortunately we were placed just above the Sports Bar below and were deafened by music from about 10:00 pm through to after 2:00 am., ear plugs were not helpful. We asked to be moved into the section which was previously the Bergen Travel Hotel for the next night and this was done with no problems. I suspect it is a common request. We were placed on the 3rd floor at the front. Room still basic, but clean and OK. This time we could not hear the music, but heard the patrons outside the Sports Bar through to about 4:00 am. However, we were able to sleep through most of this.
The hotel is well located for visiting and walking to the tourist sites and easily reached by walking from the wharf area where we arrived by ferry.
Unless you wish to join the festivities at the Sports Bar I would suggest alternative accommodation should be found.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up at the back of the former Bergen Travel Hotel, do not accept a room in the fo...

The location from the train station was fairly convenient but required a walk of approximately 20 minutes or so. The hotel had a screwy system where one had to check in at one of their hotels about 100 meters away as they had 2 buildings and only 1 of them had a reception desk. This was a little annoying as it was raining which required a short walk to the other building to check in and then another walk back. It's very near though. The rooms seem updated. They are nice and fairly basic, the bathrooms are nice. The breakfast is now located at the same building where you must check in at. This apparently is an improvement as the environment was very nice for breakfast, and the food was delicious with an excellent variety of food. The one main complaint was the noise coming from the hallway late at night when people return from the bars. The walls seem quite thin and a lot of noise came in the room, especially from the hallway. It was difficult to sleep. It's hard to find a hotel that doesn't have some issues with noise though. It's easy to walk all over Bergen from this hotel. Overall, it's recommended for a fair price (for Bergen) for a couple of nights.

Decent enough hotel, given the quite low price and very convenient location. Our room was spacious, light and nice. Bathroom was okay.

The breakfast is way below par, though. And our room faced the street, right next to a couple of popular bars. Needless to say, it was quite noisy on Friday and Saturday night.

I will probably stay there again, but will try to get a room facing the back yard.

Centrally located hotel downtown Bergen with modern reception area, reasonably decent staff, disappointing room and bath with peeling paint, low upkeep, subpar breakfast. Does the low price justify it? Naaaah, not so sure!

we were warmly welcomed. We had a big room, bigger than many of the others. The beds were good and we had a nice sleep. There was some noise from the street, but it did not disturb at all. Close to the airport bus. I forgot a book which they sent me the same day.

I read the reviews after booking and I was REALLY nervous to arrive. I was already looking up some other places. Silly me. We traveled through Norway for two weeks and this has been my favorite hotel. The rooms must've been recently renovated - they're well outfitted and modern! The bed was incredibly comfortable, again, better than the others I had slept on. The bathroom was clean. It's a little small, true, but jeez, this is in the middle of a European city!

To address concerns about the noise, my future-in-laws stayed at the front of the hotel and they didn't have problems with the pub. We stayed at the back and the noise was also not a problem. If you're really noise sensitive, the center of town probably isn't the best place for you - you'll always be surrounded by cars, people, and restaurants. Also, bring earplugs!

A few other points: The breakfast was great! Hot and cold food and a good selection. The location of the hotel was also amazing, just 10 minutes from the fish market, maybe 12 from the furnicular, and near tons of amazing restaurants.

My summary: I would stay here again and I recommend that you do too!
