“Mentioned in Jo Nesbo novel the snowman”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

This is a really great walk. You may be amused to know that Ulriken is the scene of one of the many murders in the novel The Snowman by Jo Nesbo. Reality of course is that Norway is a very peaceful place...

“Perfect walk for the front runners”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

Start at Mount Fløyen after taking the funicular to Fløyen. Look south and you will see Mount Ulriken just in front of you. 5 hours later you can sit at the wonderful restaurant at Ulriken and take a look back to Fløyen: I was there 5 hours ago! This is not a trip for the optimistic amateur. If you are not used to walking, stay home. Think of your knees and health. But if you are in normal shape and in good form, this trip is an adventure for life. The view is magnificent and it is even possible to run all over the place from Fløyen to Ulriken.

“Nice trail so close to town”

We only did parts of this trail from the top of both. Midweek, very few people, holiday was crowded!

“Nice trail with great views!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

I used to live in Bergen for many years but never did the Vidden hike. Today was my last day in town this trip and the sun was shining from bright blue skies. The setting was perfect for finally doing this famous Bergen hike. I walked from the Fishmarket up to the Ulriken cable car station and rode the "Perle" up to the top. The trail was a little difficult to follow for the first mile or so due to the fact that it starts out going in the opposite direction from where the Fløyen destination is. After a while, however, you'll come across several tall cairn stones with signs on them letting you know that you're on the right way. The trail itself is quite good the whole way with the exception of a few places where you need to ascend and decend over bare rock face. You will have a commanding view of Bergen and its surroundings on the entire trip, and if the weather is clear you'll see from the North Sea to the Hardanger mountains. The trip is about 10 miles long, and took about 3 hours of brisk walking and some running to complete.

“Mountain running at its finest”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

If you have time to spare when visiting Bergen, a run across the famous Vidden is not to be missed, but be aware of foggy conditions when visibility can be poor.
