Using U.S. standards, there is not much in Bergen that is inexpensive for eating out. However, if you've had your fill of various types of fish, you might try Ruccola-Fusio for a try at great Italian food. Located just down from the Funicular Base Station, this restaurant offers a cozy environment, efficient service, very tasty Italian food - we tried the pizza, crust was "NY thin" & delicious- all at a reasonable (for Bergen Norway) price. Seating can be tight for more than for four, so if you have a group, ask if they can seat you downstairs- you'll be away from the crowds upstairs and the service will still be responsive. Like most of Norway, liquor off the menu is very pricey, so it helps with bill to have a drink before you go.
