“Great food, great wine, great service.”
Reviewed 16 July 2014 via mobile

Just stepped in, it felt right straight away.
The food is made with care and that's what you taste. Ambiance is also great with all the fresh herbs on the counter.
Good choice when visiting Bergen, Norway.

“A welcome change from fish!”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

This small Italian place was a great find on a side street leading to the funicular and near the Fish Market. There was a wide ranging menu and all in our group enjoyed their various choices.
For me, as a veggie, it was especially great as there was plenty to choose from which made eating out a pleasure. Understandably Norway is a land where fish dishes almost totally dominate so it is hard to find alternatives. In fact we ate there twice during our stay in Bergen and enjoyed it both times.
The beetroot and goat's cheese risotto is highly recommended and the home made cheesecake was voted simply the best. Rucola obviously has an excellent chef, their coffees are good and their prices reasonable.

“A pleasant surprise!”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

We were looking for a change of pace from Norwegian cuisine, but were a bit skeptical about an Italian restaurant in Bergen. We need not have worried - the food was exceptional and the service very good. But like all Norwegian restaurants, their outdoor seating suffers from cigarette smoke. Still, highly recommended.

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

After taking a family trip with the train up to Fløien, we were looking for something to eat. We are a family of four with children that are picky about what they want to eat. I went in with no expectations, and being so close to the number 1 tourist activity we didn't expect much quality and feared high prices. How wrong could we be. Go to this place. They deserve it. Good Italian cooking, at a low price being in Norway. I am a very experienced Italian eater, having had a house in Italy for 20 years, and the food we got this evening was much better than expected. Good service. The place is small, and the people working there are not Norwegian. Maybe that is the explanation for the reasonable price. Minus is that there is only one toilet. We had a bill of about 1050 nok for 4 people with main dish, 1 starter to share, and 2 desserts. And a couple of beers and sodas for the teenagers. We would definetly come again.
