3 night stay. This hotel generally gets good reviews and is said to be, "the place to stay" in Bergen. It has some very nice elements to it as it is a major remodel of an historic building. Truth is, it looks a little warn now. Lobby sitting area (chairs) needs upgrading. Room carpets need replacing, warn and a little stained, otherwise the rooms are pretty much okay. Includes meals were pretty nicely done, very well attended by friendly staff, but we've been to better quality included food bars. The afternoon "cook your own" Norwegian pancakes were delightful and very good. Makes you forget the small down sides to this hotel.
Hotel is next door to Bryggen and there is a big out door bar out front for the summer months, really nice sitting in the late night sun having a cold beer with friends in the middle of the Bryggen.
All in all we might stay here again if they do a little upgrading.
Free wifi, see the front desk.

Room Tip: Read negitive reviews as well as the positive.

Perfect location within walking distance of many of the sights and good restaurants. Never used the facility for dinner or afternoon "pancakes" but breakfast was good. The level of assistance from the front desk was ZERO! When asked if they could call and check on tickets for a tour, it was suggested that we should walk over to the ticket office ourselves. They could hardly give directions when asked. I often could not get hot water only lukewarm for a shower. Not a bad hotel (charming to look at) but service needs lots of IMPROVEMENT.

Hotel is ideally situated in Bergen. You can walk to everything and we did. Nice room but usual "European size." We turned down a larger room toward the back of the hotel (horrible view) for a smaller room overlooking the front street and had a great view of the harbor. Food (and everything else) is outrageously expensive in Norway, so the complimentary breakfast and dinner (plus pancakes at 3:00pm) saved us bundles of cash. Breakfast was good. Dinner had good days and bad days (taco night and hamburger night were pretty grim). Staff was helpful. Internet was free, but requires a new password every day and weird log-in system. Overall, I would say this was a great deal for the price. No complaints!

Room Tip: Take the Smaller Room with the View

Nice room and the evening buffet is a real advantage with Bergen prices for food or arriving late (upto 9pm)

Make sure you climb the hotels on tower for the panoramic views of Bergen.

Wes stayed just one night at this wonderful hotel before going on the Hurtigruten cruise up the coast of Norway. The flybussen from the airport stops right outside the hotel (last stop). Then the Hurtigruten free shuttle to the dock leaves from here. The hotel is located right at the end of the Bryggen UNESCO world heritage site and handy to many of the attractions of the city (5 minutes to the Floiban funicular railway up the mountain). The room was very comfortable and well appointed, although perhaps a bit small by north american standards. Check-in took three minutes and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room rate, although high in comparison to other hotels in the area, included an excellent breakfast, crepes for afternoon tea, and a very good buffet supper. If you are flying in to Bergen and going on the Hurtigruten cruise, you couldn't pick a more perfect hotel.

Although we only stayed in the hotel one night, we found it a pleasant experience. The lobby is modern and the decor is quite trendy and "hip." The restaurant/ breakfast room is also modern, nicely decorated and the food options were good. (Although we've never encountered a hotel breakfast where you make your own eggs and fry your own bacon! There is a griddle and raw eggs and bacon next to it.)

The room we stayed in (601) had a nice view although the furniture seemed old and the bathroom drab. At least it was a decent size.

The location is excellent - about 2 minute walk to the city center, fish market and restaurants.

Overall we would recommend it.

We were recommended this hotel by another hotel after our first choice was full and we were not disappointed.

First of all Norway is not a cheap place, Bergen in the summer as a tourist destination becomes more expensive, so don’t expect a cheap stay here.

The room I had was large by Norwegian standards, I have stayed in more expensive hotels & had smaller rooms. It had two large windows that had a view of the harbour. My friends rooms were of a similar size, even though we were on different floors.

The bed was comfortable & even though it was a double, it had two single duvets. Again this seems to be a Norwegian thing as most hotels / apartments do this.

There was no bath in the room, but I prefer to have a shower & the room was quite large. OK there was no tablets of soap, but they do provide general purpose soap in the shower & sink. Personally I think this is a better idea that throwing away thousands of used soap tablets each year that have been used once.

Check in / out was quick and simple with no delays. When asked about a taxi for the bus station we were pointed to the automated system near the entrance. Once English language was selected it was a very simple touch screen to book a taxi, which arrived within 5 minutes.

Did not use the internet so can’t comment on speed, service or cost

Evening meal was a buffet type, not sure if I was lucky reading some of the other comments on here, but it was well presented & plentiful. Breakfast was the same, if a little bit more crowded. You do have to cook your own eggs bacon if you want it, but there are plenty of other choices.

If I was heading to Bergen for a night out / break this is the hotel I would book. A short walk away from Fisherman’s wharf , which means you don’t get woken with all the noise from the city centre pubs and cafés.
