The only two negative things I experienced were:
1. NO AIR CONDITIONER
2. The bar was never open.

Next to the bus stop that brings you to town, the hotel is located in a quiet although tourist area. Beautiful harbour views from the front rooms, make sure you get them. Nice breakfast buffet and pancakes in the afternoon. Rooms are small but same as my expectations for european rooms. Pricey but so is the the whole country.

Room Tip: Try to get the front faced rooms!

Have just returned home after spending an excellent short vacation in Bergen. We found the reception staff to be extremely pleasant very courteous highly efficient and generally first rate
The food at the Hotel was very good. An excellent and very varied choice for breakfast . One has to take ones own cutlery to table and clear away dishes from table after completion of meal Rather strange but not a problem. The evening buffet was generous taking into consideration it is free. Tea and coffee self service available 24 hrs Wi Fi and one Internet Monitor available to all guests. However on the down side - We were given a very nice room with a bay window seat. However the wall by the window was pealing and in bad need of repair This ruined for us the room and we had to ask for another. The room we received was not as spacious as the one reserved for us but less wall problems. Biggest problem was the bath. Either all guests must have long legs or have problems climbing into bathtub for a shower. Rather dangerous and in addition the bath is slippery and without a non slip mat in the bathroom could be fatal.. My wife slipped banged herself but luckily did not break anything.
All in all we enjoyed our stay very much but the bathroom and bedrooms we saw need decorating.

Just returned from 3 nights here. Unfortunately we had the room on the second floor with the buses but they were quiet overnight, although we did get a lot of party going noise on Friday and Saturday nights. I did ask to change the room but was told they were fully booked. I was sharing a deluxe twin room with my 80year old mother. We were amazed that there were no drawers at all, and only 4hangers. The lighting in the room was very dim, but the strangest thing was the glass see thru bathroom door. It is completely bizarre that anyone would like to be visible whilst performing their bathroom activities.
We thought the reception staff did a great job, despite being lumbered with being the bar staff as well. This is a huge hotel and large tour groups stay there and these poor girls are running backwards and forwards to the restaurant whilst checking guests in etc.
We loved the cook your own pancake idea, but more hotplates are needed as there was a huge queue once guests got to know about it.
The evening meal was a bit of a lottery - chilli first night with odd beef casserole and cabbage. Chicken thighs and legs second night but very fishy smelling dish last night with no hot alternative. Lots of salads to choose from, but I agree with others that it was understaffed and could have been kept cleaner.
One final point was that we were never asked for our room number when we went down for breakfast, pancakes or dinner. It's such a huge hotel and receptionists are kept so busy, that I'd be surprised if random passage by didn't help themselves from time to time!
Also not sure what made our room a deluxe. No special toiletries and not even a safe. Did have mini bar and ironing board though!

Room Tip: We were In room 202 which was on the side overlooking buses but not much road noise and nice view wh...

We had a short window to experience Bergen. This hotel proved to be an excellent choice for us -- walking distance to all the museums and activities we hoped to visit. We had a "family" room for the four of us (15 and 12 yr old children). Clean, spacious, and comfortable. We did not have much of a view (looked into a courtyard), but the room was very quiet, which was what we wanted.

We experienced excellent service, and received help whenever we needed it, and Silja (hope I spelled it right) was particularly helpful when we had to print boarding passes on SAS, and had some problems with the confirmation number. In fact, I've never seen anyone multi-task as well as she did, juggling about five different things with other guests, all the while staying pleasant and engaging. Everyone with whom we dealt at the hotel was very polite and helpful.

Reading many of the comments on Trip Adv re service at Bergen hotels and elsewhere in Norway gave us some pause as we planned our visit. However, in general, at every establishment in Norway, especially at this one, we had good service -- not trying to say others were wrong in their assessments, but our experience was great. It is expensive to visit Norway, and perhaps some people equate what they spend, when translated into their own currencies, into an expectation of a 4 - 5 star experience. Regardless, we did not have a bad experience with service or hotel quality anywhere in Norway.

Clarion Collection include breakfast, afternoon snacks and evening meal - great option when in Norway since it's so expensive. Rooms are nice too and include internet. Hotel is full of history - go into the tower for a great view of the city.

We planned to stay here four nights and moved across the street to the Radisson Bryggen after one night, which turned out to be a good decision. Our rooms were on the second floor right above the airport buses - noisy all the time. But the biggest problem was the lack of lighting in the bathroom - two small lights high on the wall. The room decor is a dark brown. Also, there was almost no space on the bath counter. Entering the bath tub was a bit precarious for older folks as the rims are high and the bottom narrow. Bath soap was a gel dispenser. The breakfast was fine but you have to set your own table. The breakfast room was understaffed, in our opinion; the staff was courteous. The Radisson is undergoing construction but we got a newly renovated room, which was very quiet and most comfortable.
