My wife and I stayed at the hotel from August 5-8,2014.We selected it purely on the basis of reviews on Tripadvisor.
Let me first start with the negatives because they are so few and insignificant:
1) The hotel building is easily visible when the airport bus comes to a halt, but it is a bit of a run around searching for the small entrance.
2) It is a bit strange using the bathroom in the room as it has a glass door. When the large room window curtains are open, the office staff in the opposite building has a clear view of our actions.
3) Though our room was a superior double room , the view from the window was straight into the office building next door.
4) If I am not wrong,it must have also been the most pricey hotel in Bergen.

Having got that out of the way,let me now write about our experience.
1) We reached the hotel at 12 noon and were expecting to wait till the check-in time of 3 pm.But what a pleasant surprise.Without even a comment the girl with a bright smile at the reception immediately allotted our room and also handed us the slip with the wifi password. One couldn't
have asked for a better welcome, particularly after a flight from London.
2) Soon we realized that all the staff members were equally friendly and helpful. That reflects well on the selection and training process in the hotel.
3) Our room (623)was of a decent size compared to many of the European hotels and while not being ultra luxurious,it sure was well appointed and very clean.
4) Though there was no coffee/tea maker in the room, there was 24 hrs availability in the dining area near the reception.I am a bit picky about my coffee but I found the selection excellent. My wife was thrilled that she got her favorite Twinings English Breakfast Tea.
5) Because of the excellent location we could get back to the hotel for a rest in the afternoons. Then a trip to the dining area allowed us to make ourselves some waffles to energize us for a further exploration of the city. This indeed was a welcome innovation.
6) After 6 pm there was a complimentary light buffet. The word ' light' was an understatement. It was a full dinner, even for vegetarians like my wife and I.The same spread would have cost us $25-30 each if we had to eat at an outside restaurant, taking into account the high Norway prices.
7) The front office staffer allowed us an extended check out time till 2 pm as we were catching an evening flight. The well appointed country-club like lounge allowed us a nice rest during the wait.

So that is our story.3 nights and 4 days at a hotel that gave us more satisfaction then what we had expected based on reviews on your site. The attitude of the staff is a major plus-point.

If I am sounding as the PR manager of the hotel,so be it.All that matters was that my wife and I had absolutely a wonderful time.

Room Tip: Must check with the front office regarding the view before accepting the room.

Is harbour front so is near to everywhere.A standard room is too small that felt like a dorm.I will never pay 1500-2000 nok again for a dorm size of hotel room.Service is rarely exist, standard to most hotels in Norway, The receptionist never smile like we are giving her alot troubles staying with them . light lunch and dinner are complementary but the quality is so aweful I rather eat out.

Staff very helpful, relaxed atmosphere and rooms a good size. Breakfast was good and plentiful, evening buffet was a bit disappointing on two of the three nights as there was only one hot dish - plenty of salad though.

The Clarion is located at the edge of the old town, just a few minutes’ walk from the historic district of Bergen. It is a cross the street from the Radisson and shares the same parking garage (at 200NOK a day, which is reasonable). There is a supermarket around the corner, and plenty of restaurants around. You must ask for the key of the tower and go up there for a breath taking view of the city.

Service was good all around. From a great check-in experience (by the owner son it turned out), to the service at the breakfast and evening dinner areas to other interactions will the front desk – always with a smile and eager to help, even if not being able to provide concierge service (simple questions about attraction in tow).

The hotel provides one the best breakfast spreads we have seen in the trip. But more importantly the hotel provide “light” dinner at the evening, which is anything but light and include both hot and cold plates. One can make a complete dinner experience out it and the quality is very good.

We booked deluxe room and I assume that we got one. That said the room was on the small side. The bathroom was of a decent size and provide good utilization of space. As always in Norway, the beds and pillows were too soft.

Shower instead of tub, smell of food in the dining area and soap dispenser on the room was broken, they did not welcome us back when we checked out of the hotel, but the kitchen personell was excellent, giving good service.
