“A lovely little apartment!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2014

Having heard about how expensive restaurants are in Norway, we booked one of the 4 apartments so we could make our own food. The owners were very friendly and talked us through all the places to visit in the city, including the all important grocers! The House is a beautiful traditional wooden building in a cobbled street at the bottom of a hill set back from the waterfront, only 5-10 minutes from Bryggen.

The little kitchenette had all we need, the living room was great to hang out in after a cold day sightseeing, and our stay was very comfortable!

Even though our hosts were having a bit of a crisis (weekend home was flooding), they welcomed us, got us oriented, and even picked us up from the train station when we returned from our overnight Norway in a Nutshell tour (also highly recommended, stay over at http://www.flamsbrygga.no/en/ in Flam!)

Our room was so homey and comfy, had everything we needed including an efficient little kitchenette unit. The wifi rocks, which was helpful as I had to work while there. There is a grocery store a couple blocks away, and a great pub, Dr Wiesener's. The quarter is charming little narrow cobbled alleyways among 17th century white wooden houses. It's quite close to the fort and to Bryggen. Bergen is so walkable, this guesthouse makes a perfect home base.

We had to move to the Scandic Bergen Center for a conference, and this part of town is not nearly as nice, though it's still convenient. We wish we could have stayed in Skuteviken!

We stayed there for one night. The hosts were friendly. they offered to pick us up at the train station.
After a long day of Norway in a nutshell, it was a blessing to us that we were given the loft apartment as the room we originally booked was not available, while being charged the original price only! we were thankful that the host helped us carry our heavy luggage to the loft which is the 3rd floor. the apartment is clean, spacious and comfortable.
Even though it was a short stay, we enjoyed it a lot and would recommend it to others.

We rented a small apartment in this conveniently situated guesthouse for three nights over new year. It turned out to be a great choice. As well as the central location, only 10 minutes walk from the city centre, it was very economically priced compared with other accommodation in Bergen. Our apartment was very comfortable, well equipped and warm with plentiful hot water. The owner, Solveig, was extremely welcoming and helpful and we would highly recommend Skuteviken Guesthouse.

I really wanted to love our stay given the historic nature of this guesthouse. I guess my expectations weren’t aligned with the definition of a guesthouse in this case nor aligned with others' experience here.

We arrived after a very long day doing Norway in a Nutshell; we were given a list of instructions, payment was taken, and then we were left with a couple of towels and a half-used travel size bottle of lotion (odd - wondered if a guest had left it behind?). Our room had a view of the harbor, but it was on a very busy street and so the sound was amplified even in a residential area. It felt a little isolated even though it is a 10 minute walk to Bryggen. If I had to do it over, I’d stay closer to the action for the price.

Room Tip: There is not a lift, so higher rooms include steep staircase.

A short walk out of town - approx 10mins walk to centre or a bus from rail station. Lovely wooden house. We stayed in the loft room which was beautifully decorated and had great views and its own living room/kitchen which was lovely. Nice big bathroom and towels and shampoo provided. Mind your head on the sloping walls though!

We stayed for 2 nights. Didn't actually meet the owner as arrived later in the evening, but they were very helpful and arranged for a neighbour to let us in and pay, and checked up on us through Post-It note messages. No breakfast available.

We stayed at Skuteviken Guesthouse for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The guest house is located on a gorgeous narrow street, and we stayed in one of the apartments on the first floor. The stairs are quite winding and tight so if that is an issue for you, I would suggest you ask for a room on the lower floors. The apartment itself was clean and homely, the kitchenette well equipped and the small bedroom space served us fine. The bathroom was lovely with underfloor heating. We spent most of our time in bergen out sightseeing so really didn't spend that much time in the accommodation, however, if I return to bergen I would definitely stay there again.
