“Okay for an one night stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

We only spent one night, three of us in a top floor room....probably over priced but again everything is in Norway! Slept well, breakfast good and parking up road free from evening until 8am. Good location and easy or climb up to lookout above the town.

We stayed in this hostel for 3 night at the end of our stay in Norway. We found it higly overpriced for what it was. It is well located in the walking distance from everywhere. On the other hand, Aalesund being a small city, it is not difficult to be centraly located :). We stayed in the room for 4 but we were only 2 which left us lot of space in the room, it was cool. Bathroom was private, in the room. Unfortunately there were several problems with it, such as shower door not fixed, toiles was not fixed to the floor which was kind of funny. The bathroom smelled bad, probably because of the bad evacuation of the water. Kithen in the room was not working. TV in the room is useless in case you do not understand only 2 channels in norvegian working :)
However, the common kitchen in the basement was fully equiped with all you might need to make your own food, that seems to be neccessary in Norway. Unfortunately there is no common room such as living room or salon where you could share some time with other peoples. This kind of place that you expect in the hostel kind of accomodation. It is more like a hotel with the common kitchen. It is not the most cosy hostel we stayed in, but its ok.

The only 100% thing is the breakfast buffet.

We went for our 10th wedding anniversary. To our despair our luggage was lost by the airline!!! - We literally had a T-shirt, mobile and passports on us. We checked in very late - about midnight. The reception was open and the stuff were so very helpful! They not only offered to help to recover our luggage but were actually making calls for us and chasing the airlines. Despite weekend and late time they were really very helpful. The room was simple but clean. We had use of nice kitchen and bathroom - nobody else was sharing at the time (this is not the one in the basement). Kitchen fully equipped - large fridge, microwave etc. Bathroom - WC with a shower cabin (not perfectly clean but OK). The breakfast room is very spacious and breakfast is a feast! The location is perfect for Alesund and I would def recommend for budget conscious travellers or backpackers.

Room Tip: we stayed in room on the 2nd floor - with kitchen and bathroom. Clean and quiet.

I choose this hostel because of the price factor, so overall i wanted a place to sleep, eat something and then head outside. Fortunately it was not only literally this, the receptionist i have encountered in the very first day was very polite and set the tone for the rest of the stay, sadly i don't recall her name. I booked a single room but i received a family room, which was good, for there was more space. I didn't like the fact that some things in the room were unusable or out of order, but that's no big deal for my purposes. The cleaning was ok, nothing surprised me positively or negatively. The breakfast was good with a good timetable, and i noticed they offered a breakfast box in case of a very early check-out; i didn't requested it though. You have to love the living room of the place; it's a museum-like room.
There's a kitchen in the underground where you can cook by your own means from the outside, and spend some quality time talking with the fellow guests of the hostel.
If you want cheap and ok, this is the place.

We were too early for check-in but the reception allowed us to leave our luggage there until it was time to check in. Best of all, he (the owner I believe) offered to let us stay in an apartment all by ourselves when we only booked a private 4-bed room. The apartment was in a separate house from the main building but it was no trouble at all as it was only a five minute walk away. The apartment itself was awesome; 2 single rooms and 1 master bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom was spacious and well-equipped (even with a washing machine) and the kitchen had almost everything you needed. There was also a living room with a huge LCD TV (although there were only 3 channels available but still a luxury for the price we paid). The apartment was very clean and we were rather impressed by how new it looked. There was also a nice little veranda with a great view of Alesund. Only minor complaint was that there was no dishwashing liquid left so it was rather hard for us to clean up after meals.

Do take note though that the rooms are not heated and they tend to get rather cold, even in summer (given Alesund's climate). Living room and dining room had heaters though.

Breakfast was included in the price we paid and boy was it worth it. The breakfast was one of the best we had in our travels in Europe so far! There was an abundance of bread (wholegrain and normal), juice (apple and orange), cereal (cornflakes and muesli), spreads (jam, chocolate, butter), salads (shrimp, coleslaw), smoked salmon, ham (salami and breakfast ham), cheese, (cheddar and brown cheese), milk (chocolate and normal milk), fruits, biscuits, cucumber, tomato, egg etc etc etc. You get the idea.

Reception was super friendly and we love this place!

We stayed two nights in this hostel in a 6 bedroom with bathroom. Our first night we stayed in an amazing room, which had 2 bunk beds and one double (which was good because we had one couple with us). The room included a small couch, a table, tv and two more chairs. It was very bright, due to the big windows, but we had curtains to close them. The kitchen included in the rooms, was not working, but didn't really bother us. The bathroom is small but with a proper shower, so after the shower not the whole bathroom is wet. There is was also free Wifi

The breakfast was very nice, just be aware that during the week it closes at 9am. The staff was really nice and helpful. The only negative thing was, that the times for reception are from 8-10am and then from 4pm-10pm. This is very annyoing if you arrive in the afternoon and you don't know where to put the luggage.

The location is very nice and it is pretty much close to everything.

We stayed one night, traveled further and then came back. We had a different room, which was a bit smaller (3 bunk beds), but still it was clean and comfortable.

I would definitley come back.

Room Tip: if you can get number 201 (6 bed room)

Good kitchen for self catering, otherwise, the travel cost will be a triple. Strong wifi network and it's free. Its also free of charge to use the washing machine. Good location. We arrived the virga airport and take the flybus to sentrim, get off somewhere has a mcdonal, then, walk all the way up and the turn left, when u see the church and s park, the hostel is there. The Only bad thing is the mattress and the pillow are too soft.
