We had high expectations of this hotel as a result of the hotel website and the reviews on tripadvisor. Sadly we found it just a little disappointing - maybe we were just unlucky. We had three nights stay at the Brosundet Hotel. It is in a stunning location and decorated very beautifully throughout. The room we had was pretty small (I think this is what people mean by cosy) but we had a gorgeous water-way view. The emphasis seems to be on style rather than practicality. The shower was fantastic (when there was hot water) but there was no seal on the shower room door so the entire bathroom was flooded- utterly impractical as there is no drain in the main part of the bathroom. An exposed beam in the bedroom, whilst attractive, was a real danger if you were over 5ft 9. The Bulgari toiletries were very nice. The kettle was a welcome addition too- there was a good selection of teas and coffees and chocolates. As with many old buildings in Scandanvia there is no air conditioning and therefore it is very hot indeed in the summer. Having the windows open makes the room very noisy as the hotel is diagonally opposite a popular bar. The breakfast was ok but considering the room rate we expected higher quality and most definitely fresh coffee and fresh juices. The lack of hot water for one whole day (we eventually got a shower at 11pm) was dealt with as efficiently as they could manage and they offered, without request, to refund one nights stay which we felt was fair in the circumstances. The free wifi was fast. We would recommend buying the most expensive room you can afford so that you have more space. We would recommend this hotel to friends but with reservations.
