We are a family if 11 between 7 and 82 years old and its definitely an experience to remember. Alessund will always mean a fast zodiac trip for us. We reached the offices of 62oNORD and we wanted a trip to visit the nearby fjords. They only had a zodiac available and after a lot of doubts, we decided to book it.....and was it worth it !
We wore some protective gear and sped off on the zodiac with Captain Chris to the nearby fjords. He was very attentive to our young and elder members and ensured we had a safe and fast ride....it was Awesome !!!! We truly recommend it !!!

Thank Vijay B

We worked through a tour company to arrange for things to do and hotels in Alesund. It turns out most of the arrangements were made through 62 Nord. 62 Nord reserved the hotel (Brosundet) as well as the boat trip to the fjord (lunch at the Hotel Union Oye). Both are highly recommended. 62 Nord also arranged the dinner at Maki. On top of that we arranged our own fishing trip to the outskirts of Alesund (caught 15 fish including two cod). The best part was when the boats for the fjord tour and the fishing trip both picked us up right in front of the hotel.

Mind you, the boats and staff may not be 62 Nord staff. It appears 62 Nord may be subcontracting out to different boat owners/operators and so on. But that was not an issue. The quality of service from the boat captains to the staff at the office were supreme. The staff at the office are quite attentive and responsive to questions via email, thoroughly professional. They really add value to what Alesund has to offer and are an absolute necessity if you are spending at least two days in Alesund.

We did the 2 hour rib boat tour round the bird island Runde. Close up we saw harbour seal, porpoise, lots of different kind of sea guls nesting, a few puffins and six eagles. Great and skilful guidance by our captain Erika.

Took a RIB boat ride with this company Leaves and returns right in town, takes about 1.5 hours. person driving our boat was very knowledgeable; we had an avid birder on our boat and she seemed to hold her own with his questions. Aside from the fun of bouncing through the waves in the boat, we got up very close to a cliff in the wildlife sanctuary that had puffins and tens of thousands of gannets and other birds. Also was able to see sea lions even though it wasn't peak sea lion season. Since you're going very fast over the water, expect it to be cold even on a nice day, but don;t worry about layering up too much because they put you in a full body padded suit that will keep you quite warm. definitely take the goggles(unless you have good sunglasses), and you may want the gloves and neck warmer, too.

We chose the rib boat out to the islands as our cruise port excursion, and it was definitely one of the most memorable bits of our vacation. The views are just gorgeous, and I'm very happy to have taken advantage of an opportunity to do something so different than the typical activities.

As most other reviewers have mentioned, the initial ride out of the harbor is such a rush, and can be a little rough, but if you do as your guide says and bend your knees to absorb the shock, you won't be sore. Both of my parents (in their 50s/60s) have iffy knees and backs, but were absolutely fine with the rocky ride and had a great time. You'll want to hold tight to your handlebars, as your guide will drive fastest on the ride out to sea when you go against the wind and water to get big air. It's wild, but so worth it, especially if you sit at the very front of the boat.

The islands and mountains are so pretty, even on a gloomy day like the one we had. I actually think the fog and mist set a really cool tone for our ride. Even though we had some moments of rain, our gear kept us dry and comfy the whole time. On your way back, you're going with the tide, so it's a much calmer ride and even felt serene and relaxing.

Bird mountain was very cool to see, even considering that we didn't get to see the more rare and impressive birds. The scenery is still beautiful, and the guides have some neat stories and info to share and contextualize the area. The 62 Nord staff was professional but chill, and very fun to hang with for a few hours.

In a nutshell, I'd do this again in a heartbeat.
