“Good location”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

What is the best about this hotel is the city center location.
The hotel is a bit dated, and overpriced compared to other hotels we went to on our trip in the west of Norway.
The room was clean, and OK. It was at ground level and had construction work right outside.
The breakfast was OK, but does not compare to other hotel breakfasts on our trip.
Friendly service at reception desk.

I stayed for 4 nights on business recently. The hotel has been renovated recently and the overall impression was good. My room was nice (recently done up) as was the bathroom. There was definitely a lift (I noticed an old review which says there is not one). The hotel's web site does not do the place justice.

Breakfast was mediocre (for a Brit anyway!), I didn't eat any other meals. The Wifi had a good reliable signal and a fast connection to the web.

The first three nights (Mon-Wed nights) were fine and I would be happy to stay here again those nights. The big problem was Thursday night. There are two clubs next door and when the music started (around bedtime!) it kept me awake for hours. I would definitely avoid Thurs-Sat night on that basis.

I've stayed several times in the Quality Grand Hotel and would happily recommend that, but the Astoria is fine Mon-Wed.

Room Tip: 5th floor was good in my experience.

Hotel mainly used by offshore contractors. Basic rooms, very small bath room, all clean.

Free wifi internet, reasonable speed.
Basic breafast.

People are gentle, some have limited knowledge of the english language.

we arrived to this hotel after long ride & were looking for cheap hotel...(we had no reservation)
the hotel that facing the astoria hotel was a little bit expenssive for us,so we took the "astoria"....
it wasnt that cheap (990 kr) but the girl at the reception was very kind, she showed us 2 rooms so we could choose the room we liked more.
the room itself very comfortable, clean, wide & looks pretty new,the bed is also comfortable (the building outside looked old & i was afraid that the room will look like that....) & we had a nice view from our window.
the breakfast is nice-but we came at the last half an hour so we couldnt have eggs,so we ate sandwiches & vegetables...

One night in this hotel was more than enough.

The room was basic, really basic, the beds were like something from the war, two single beds ,what good is that? The television was tiny and at the other side of the room from the bed, not much point in that. It was noisy, the local boy racers made sure I didn't get much sleep.

Breakfast was nonsense. Toast. Yum. Thats it.

We arrived in Kristiansund without a reservation, and stopped by several hotels which all seem overpriced. Ended up at Astoria Hotell -- a good value. Very clean, smelled good, and a great breakfast with made to order eggs. Small places are often very good.

Reviewed 18 September 2007

Arriving in Kristiansund on a cold, wet Sunday evening in September, we looked forward to a nice meal, and a warm comforting room. I don't know whether it was the Receptionist's idea of a joke (he looked like a student doing his weekend job), but he put us on the 4th floor, even though the place seemed to be virtually empty. There is no elevator, and we had to struggle up the narrow staircases with large, heavy suitcases. The room itself (like the rest of the hotel) was fairly scruffy, and the entire building stank like a smoker's convention. Perhaps luckily for us, the restaurant seemed to have shut up shop for the winter - so we went out and found Kristiansund's claim to culinary fame - the fish restaurant, Smia, which was excellent. Didn't even begin to make up for the hotel though....

  • Liked — restaurant was closed, which forced us to go out and find somewhere decent to eat
  • Disliked — no elevators, stink of smoke
