We stayed here for one night on a road trip around the Western fjord area. Molde is a beautiful town overlooking a fjord with mountains in the distance. This hotel is a modern glass-clad sail jutting into the fjord - absolutely stunning architecture. It is full of great modern art and old photographs of Molde. Unfortunately we were in the Akter Seilet, which is an annexe behind the main building, but still with very nice views - probably because we got our room at a discount on our Fjordpass! It felt miles away from Reception. The room was stylish, modern and comfortable with a nice bathroom. By far the most comfortable mattress of the week. The breakfast was outstanding - by far the best breakfast we had at any hotel during the week. The diningroom had the most stunning views of the fjord through the floor to ceiling windows, with early morning mist rising over the sea. We got a good rate with our Fjordpass and we really felt we got value for money.

We spent one night in Molde on our way to Geiranger. The Rica Seilet hotel has a beautiful architecture. Its location is convenient at a walking distance from the city center and its restaurants, by the Fjord. Our room was on a high floor with an outstanding view on the fjord (rooms have a glass wall).
It could have been a very good stay except that the hotel has no air conditionning and there were 30 ° degres in our room when we checked-in. We asked for another room but there was none available and while I understand that the weather was exceptionnally warm, I found atonishing that nothing was done to mitigate the effect of the temperature. Curtains were wide open when we arrived. Hotel has no fans or small air conditionning units available. We were not proposed bottles of water. Staff was friendly but seemed to consider the situation has normal... We did not in particular when travelling with a small kid. This explains my severe rating.
My advice to those travelling during summer is to ask for rooms that are not south oriented or to go somewhere else.

If you find yourself in the lovely town of Molde, Norway, please stay at the Rica Seilet Hotel. It is a beautifully (modern) designed hotel right on the water and within a short walking distance of the town, restaurants and shopping. There was a music festival and street fair happening when we arrived and the town was full of visitors. Our room was quiet, had a water view with beautiful vistas of the Norway Alps. Breakfast was substantial and delicious!

Molde is a very small city but a beautiful one. There is not much to do but if you want to have quite time looking at the beautiful scenery then Molde is the place and the place to stay in molde has to be this hotel. Also, no other rooms in this hotel but the suites with balcony.
We booked a standard room however when we were given our room we noticed a problem in the lock and were promptly upgraded to the balcony suite by the front desk. I always appreciate the hotels which do not waste time in acknowledging that something has gone wrong and they need to promptly act on it.
Having spent time in both kind of rooms, I can say that our experience of Molde was completely changed by the upgrade of the room. From these rooms you get uninterrupted view of the peaks which make molde famous. So i would advise anybody visiting molde for leisure to go for the balcony suites (only 2 per floor).
Location of hotel is not central but Molde is a very small city so its just 1km from the bus station and just 300-400 meters from hurtigruten terminal.
You get a very good view of cruise ships coming and going from Molde from the hotel. We took the hurtigruten cruise to go back and because of hotel's location, we actually could see when our ship is coming and left the room accordingly.
Breakfast: I stayed in 5 different hotels during this trip and can easily say breakfast at this hotel was the best. They have live station to make egg as you like. Surprisingly, they also have fresh orange juice machine so you wont need to put up with packaged juices here. While we were there, the breakfast restaurant was serving 2 specialty coffees as well.
The hotel has few bicycles which you can just ask the reception for and go on a quite bicycle trips in and outside the city.
There is a small play area inside the hotel as well for the smaller children. The waterfront and the gardens around the hotel are very well made and kept and very good to stroll on.

However, I still think that hotel management misses eye for detail sometimes. For example Its great to switch off all the lights at night with just one button next to the bed but its not good if it switches off the complete electric supply in your room and your almost dead phone which you thought will be charged by morning is actually completely dead by then.
All in all, Its a new, fresh, clean hotel with actual 4 star standards (difficult to find in Norway at similar prices atleast) and I would recommend this hotel to anyone but definitely a room with view/balcony is a must to do justice to the trip.

Room Tip: Suites with balcony are a must when you choose this hotel.

We stayed in a deluxe room at this hotel, and loved it. The hotel building itself is beautiful and sits jutting out overlooking the fjord. If you are going to stay in a hotel with a location like this it really does pay to treat yourself to a deluxe room, our rate came with breakfast. The room was a good size with the most amazing views of the fjord from the room and balcony. Due to the sail shape of the building, you look directly onto your neighbours balcony which is the only negative but you would ruin the integrity of the building if you put up partitions. The bathroom was well sized and equipped and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was ok, felt mass produced and room has a bit of a bus tour/wedding reception type of set up - line them up and feed them quickly type feel, with tables remaining uncleaned. The Skybar is a must for a drink, prices are terrifying but then this is Norway. Would recommend dinner out in the town area though rather than the restaurant which is the large breakfast room. Overall for the room and view I would recommend this as the only place to stay in Molde.

Room Tip: a deluxe with the terrace and view from all parts of room is a must.

We came to Molde by chance and looked for a place to stay. This was the first time we got familiar with the Rica hotels in Norway.
This hotel was a great treat.
1. The view from the rooms are amazing. Just lay in bed and smile.
2. Breakfast was the best we had in this trip. Wow!!!
Stay if you are in town.

Hotel was a few blocks from downtown and adjacent to a soccer stadium. Dining room had good food. Chocolate wafers at the front desk for guests! Bikes could be borrowed to explore town. Adjacent to the water. Comfortable rooms.

Room Tip: Room keys had two ends - to unlock and to lock. Doors didn't lock unless you used the "lock...
