“Watch out for the fog!”

Attraction details
Owner description: From the Varden viewpoint (407 metres above sea level) there is a good view of the town of Molde, the fjord and islands and the famous Molde panorama with its 222 partially snow-clad peaks. On clear days you can see as far as the fishing village of Ona and the dreaded waters of Hustadvika. Ten minutes by car or an hour's walk along the nature trail from the centre of Molde. The Vardestua restaurant is at the top and marked trails take you into the Moldemarka countryside.

“Watch out for the fog!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

The view is fantastic - definitely visit if you are in the area! The fog can appear and disappear very quickly, so be careful if you are on foot. Coffee and cake in the cafe were lovely - made even better by the open fire.

“Go during a nice day”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

When the weather is nice (sunny) it's a perfect to kill a few hours. Going to Molde, it's a MUST to go to Varden to look at the panorama of mountains and the fjord, as well as a good look at the city. I've been there with friends, girls and family. The best time was maybe with my family when I showed them Molde (where I was studying).
Last time I was there, I hiked up (which i recommend, instead of driving) in bad weather. A nice trip, but nothing to see when it's foggy and rainy

“view extraordinaire”
Reviewed 20 May 2013

For a view of 222 mountain peaks, this is the place. You can go by bus or a very long uphill hike, as we did. Walking is strenuous but worth it. We saw old German bunkers from ww2 along the way and all the scenery is beautiful.
