“Best sushi in town?”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

Me and my wife spent a brilliant afternoon in the sun, sipping Prosecco and enjoying the sushi. The presentation is very inviting, and the flavours are fresh and crispy. As we were seated outdoor, we had to make our own order in the bar for both food and drink. Which worked out surprisingly well. We will definately be back.

“Unfriendly and unsymathetic staff”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

Left on the terasse without being noticed by the waiter for 20 minutes (who was chatting with his fellow collegue meanwhile), had to clean the table ourselves since tbe waiter did not bother to do so. Goes without saying we left without ordering. Nice location, but horrible service. Never again.

“The TOP #1Place”

Amazing, impressive - located right at the harbor, next to the Tollbua (Tax-House). They have a nice menu, good wines and drinks and always something going on.

“Good food - relaxed service..”
Reviewed 27 June 2013

Enjoyed a 4 course dinner for the evening - (Thursday) - the place was packed to the door - so booking is essential. Restaurant divided into two separate dining experiences - either Sushi (not tried) or dinner a la carte - with a 3 or 4 course set menu for the evening. We tried the 4 course - excellent food - a bit disappointing that there was only 1 small piece of st jaques on the plate - but overall - good food & good wine list. The service was overall good but very relaxed and very informal. Waitperson wearing very worn out jeans and chewing tobacco... but friendly and knowledgeable. 4 people paid NOK 4500 for the evening incl 1 bottle of champagne (real stuff) and 1 bottle of good red - so not bad:)

“High cost, pretentious, average food”
Reviewed 17 June 2013

The Hall Toll seems to serve mainly Sushi, which is not to our taste, but it looked impressive. The hotel has an open kitchen so that you can watch your food being prepared. We would rather not see the chefs licking their fingers, sneezing into their hands and carrying on regardless. The menu is minute [2 starters, 2 main courses, 1 desert or cheese]. The food is obviously trying to be in line with the top fashions, portions are small, warm and cold mixed within the same dish. We would not recommend it, but younger, trendy people would probably love it. The location on Stavanger Docks is very nice.
