“Short but sweet”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

This is a short, idyllic stroll among some quaint and well maintained homes in downtown Stavanger. On a beautiful morning, it is perfect walk. We happened upon it when 2 cruise ships were in town which made it more of a tourist side show than an exploration. Felt rather badly for the folks that live there as it must seem like a side attraction. Best to do take in, if there aren't throngs of people.

There are some historic markers to learn about and bring a street map to help

“Great walk”

History of Stavanger is encoded in the architecture & street layouts. Charming.

Cobblestone streets & a few steep inclines may pose challenges for travelers with mobility impairments. It's doable.

“llmost forgot”

nearly omitted this from my reviews. What ever you do you must take time out to stroll around this place and remember that it could be like this at home if we were more proud of our country and the environment!!!!!

charming old wooden clad cottages, lovely gardens & cobbled narrow streets. Don't miss it if you're in Stavanger.

“Stroll the streets”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

On a nice day it would be a shame to miss a walk around the old town of Stavanger. The small white painted wooden houses, with pretty and neat gardens, set on a hillside have good main foot paths through them which can be wheel or push chair navigated. It's a much smaller area than I'd realised and residential, though there are some art and craft workshops and the Canning Museum to see - though these are generally closed on Mondays.
