The basic rooms in this hotel are nothing special and quite small. However if you can get the room from the higher floors the views are excellent.
The breakfast is also served on the top floor of the hotel so watching the sunrisee while you are enjoying and excellent buffet breakfast is defenetly going to give a great start for the working day.
The staff is also very friendly and eventhough the menu at the hotel restaurant is quite limited the choices that I tried where good.
Hotel does not have any fittness center but running the stairs up to the top will surely do for a good exercise.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to recommend our hotel on tripadvisor.

Our standard rooms are like you say of a basic nature, and is what the standard for most standard rooms across hotels in Norway is. For people staying one or two nights and who will only be using the room for a few hours during the night before they sleep, then this is usually not a problem. We do recommend people who will stay for a long time at our hotel to try our junior suites which can feel like a smallish flat and they are also the best “rooms with a view” at the hotel. However, like you said, the higher up the rooms the better the view.

We are also glad you enjoyed the breakfast with the sunrise from the 21st floor, and yes we agree 100% that it is a wonderful way to start the day.

It is also pleasing to hear that the staff was very friendly and that the food was good. The new summer menu does have more main course choices, so hopefully this will be something you will enjoy if/when you return to our hotel.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Stavanger and Rica Forum Hotel in the near future.

Best regards,
Marc Dudley

Dear Øyvind,
Thank you for recommending our hotel on tripadvisor.

I am glad you enjoyed our breakfast buffet and feel it is one of the best in Norway. That pleases all of us at the hotel and your experience is what we strive to achieve every morning when serving breakfast to our hungry hotel customers.

Our location is also perfect, as all meeting places in Stavanger and the Airport are a maximum 10-15 minutes away by car. It is also only 5 minutes to the city centre by car or bus, so not far away for those feeling the need to make a quick trip to the city centre.

I look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel during your next visit to Stavanger.

Best Regards,
Marc Dudley

Hotel located next to beautiful lake Mosvann in the "Forum-area", with conference-centres, multipurpose arenas and sports-facilities nearby. Friendly staff and a truly great breakfast buffet. Lunch menu a bit limited, and no possibilities for meals and eating outside opening hours in the restaurant unless you want to order take away to the hotel. Somewhat small rooms. Great panoramic view from the bar/restaurant.

Room Tip: Rooms facing east are less exposed to traffic noise.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on tripadvisor.

I am glad you liked our hotel, and that the service from the staff meet your expectations.

We are also very lucky to have a great location, especially for those wanting to host a big conference or for sports teams playing at the nearby arenas. This is why most of our guests fall under these categories, but with the fantastic views and peaceful surrounding area, it is also a favorite for many business people just wanting to escape the city center and relax after busy days at the office or a meeting/conference.

Once again, thank you for recommending our hotel and I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Best regards,
Marc Dudley

Hotel is great. Nice rooms, nice view and very nice people. The restaurant has a very nice view but the food was not the best. The last dinnes was buffét and it was no good 2/10. The other dinners was ok. But only 5/10.
I would recomend this restaurant only for the view.

Dear Bjørn,
Thank you for recommending our hotel on Tripadvisor and for giving us valuable feedback about our restaurant.

We are of course very pleased that you liked the hotel, including the rooms, views and people, but I am equally disappointed about your restaurant experience.

During your stay we had a buffet most of the days, which was for the tennis players taking part in the Norwegian Youth Championships and therefore it was based on a low budget buffet as this was what was agreed between the organisers of the tournament and us. This is of course not an excuse, as normal hotel guests should still get the quality of food they expect at a Rica hotel restaurant. I therefore appreciate your feedback on this issue and have spoken directly with the head chef about it.

We have just got a new menu for the summer and the quality of the food was one of the major talking points. Having seen and tasted the new menu, I am confident the food will be of a quality people come to expect at a hotel restaurant, and I can highly recommend it.

I therefore hope you decide to return to our hotel in the near future and will look forward to welcoming you back. If you do return to our hotel, please get in touch with me and I will make sure your restaurant experience is better this time around.

Best regards,
Marc Dudley

I only stayed for one night and that was fine. My room was comfortable and I slept well; there was no noise from the next door elevator of which I was pleased! Everything worked well and the view is delightful overlooking the lake; pleasant for walking or running around. It's a nice walk from the hotel to the harbourside (about 45 minutes). Lots of youngsters staying at the same time irritated my colleagues with their noise but I had no problem on my floor. The elevators are annoying as there are only three and they seem to take forever to arrive! The 21st floor makes a great location for the restaurant, although during our stay it felt rather like a university canteen than a decent restaurant...not sure if that's because of all the young people or the general lack of atmosphere anyway. My bag was delayed with SAS and was brought to my room by the hotel staff at 7am, with a smile!

Room Tip: The corner rooms seem a quirky shape so might be fun!

Dear Lesley,

Thank you for taking the time to recommend our hotel on Tripadvisor.

We are pleased that you got a good nights sleep and that your room met expectations. We are also glad that you enjoyed the delightful view, which is something we are very fortunate to have.
During your stay there were quite a few young tennis players staying at the hotel, which was due to the Norwegian Youth Championships in Tennis taking place just over the road. It was unfortunate that your colleagues had a bad experience because of this, and we can only apologize for this.

This may also explain why it felt more like a university canteen during your stay, as we had an offer for the tennis players during their stay. This is of course no excuse, as the restaurant should still be of the standard we and you expect, so if you were unhappy with the food or the experience, feel free to get in touch with me during your next stay.

If you decide to return to Stavanger in the near future, we will look forward to welcoming you to our hotel once again.

Best regards,
Marc Dudley

Very friendly staff, great breakfast for all diets: LCHF, fruits/juices or 100 % protein - the view from the dining room unforgettable. Note - fine running trail just outside the hotel.
Conference facility needs more attention on hardware.

Dear Annette,

Firstly, thank you for recommending us on Tripadvisor.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We promote good customer service, which is of high importance here at Rica Forum Hotel, so am glad that you were left with a feeling of our staff being very friendly.

We also aim to give our guests the best possible start to the day with an excellent breakfast, and we try to cover all the various diets and requirements for all our guests. I am therefore glad you noticed this, and with the fantastic morning view of Stavanger from the 21st floor, there are few better places to have breakfast.

Our conference facility is actually going to be getting a "facelift" this year, as we also felt it was time to replace some of the hardware in a couple of our rooms. We will therefore have even better facilites to offer our guests than we already had.

Thank you once again for taking the time to recommend our hotel and we hope to welcome you once again to Rica Forum Hotel in the near future.

Best regards,
Marc Dudley,

Stayed at the hotel because of business. Pleasantly surprised about the service rooms and offers. The food at the restaurant was good. They managed to cook a steak almost to perfection.

Room was smallish, but had a nice layout. Functional in other words. Bathroom was perfectly okay, nothing spectacular, but enough space to actually move around in.

Service at the hotel was friendly and professional.

The number of tv channels was a acceptable.

Considering that the hotel is the tallest building around makes the view pretty good. No matter what side of the building it is good.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for recommending our hotel on tripadvisor. We appreciate you taking the time to write a review.

We are pleased that you were pleasantly surprised after your stay with us and that you also enjoyed the food at our restaurant. We aim to provide good quality service and food to our customers, so we are pleased that you received this during your stay at our hotel.

Our standard rooms are like you said, functional, but they are of the same standard size as most of the other hotels in Norway. These rooms are good for short stays but we do recommend our bigger junior suites for those staying for longer periods, as these rooms have sofas/sitting group, more room to move about and spectacular views over the local area. Do get in touch with the hotel if you are planning a long stay and we can maybe work out a better price than the ones you find on the internet.

Our TV-package has the standard Norwegian TV-channels + extra channels after recommendations from our frequent stayers. We therefore feel we have channels for everybody, but we of course are open to recommendations from our guests if they feel there is a particular channel missing. The TV, is for some, the most important feature of the room and it is therefore important that everybody is happy with this offer.

And yes, we are very lucky to have amazing views from all of our rooms, but of course the higher the room, the better the view.

We thank you again for writing a review and wish you a warm welcome back to our hotel the next time you visit Stavanger.

Best regards,
Marc Dudley
