Great Skybar and nice, down-to-earth staff. They fixed some food out of the regular menu and even let me watch some football as their only guest interested. The view from the Skybar is great, probably even more when there is no rain.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your positive review about our hotel.

We are proud of our skybar, so we are glad you enjoyed it. It is also very pleasing to hear you good words about our staff, as this is nice, down to earth staff is something we try to encourage amongst our staff. Professional, but in a personal manner.

We hope you return to our hotel in the future if you decide to visit Stavanger again.

Best regards,
Marc Dudley

Stayed for one night only, and was upgraded to a "corner" room (912) facing south-south east. These rooms are very spacious and provides great views of the surroundings. I had a late checkout, and planned to work from my room. With 8 metres of windows, and the sun baking outside, it felt more like an oven, and I ended up leaving the hallway door open to avoid being fried.

The hotel is well maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's located right next to the Forum expo, but there's not much else in the area, if you want to experience the city nightlife, this is definitely not the place for you.

Breakfast was standard Rica fare. Rica serves up the best hotel breakfasts I've had in Norway, so that's a stamp of quality. It is served in the Vju Skybar & Restaurant on the top floor, the views are spectacular.

The building itself is a beauty, but they've recently retrofitted an external glass elevator running along the entire structure's height. This doesn't look very good from the outside, but provides a great view when riding it.

A good stay, I'd come back if staying there for a quiet night or two.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the north side in summer, as the south facing ones get very warm if sunny.

Dear Knut,

Thank you for your positive review about your stay with us this summer.
We are very aware of some of rooms (especially the corner rooms) getting very warm during the summer months, and this is a problem not only for the guests but also the staff working at the hotel. That is a problem when our hotel is a massive glass building. A short term solution is that we have invested in fans for all of our corner rooms, meaning it is slightly better on the hot/warmer days when these are in use. We are also been working on a long term solution, but it is unknown if or when this we be finalized.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the near future,

Kind regards,
Marc Dudley

A hotel with advantage and disadvantages. Number of floors gives impressive views from rooms as well as restaurant at the top floor. However, the room design has not really taken into account, that it can get rather hot at sunset with a room towards west and that you have the sun disturbing your view on a normal TV screen in the restaurant.
The room design appeared slightly tricky due to the layout of the hotel. And the cleaning could have been better. The bath room designed was pretty good and straight forward.
The restaurant serve a breakfast above Stavanger average. Dinner varied more: some dishes very good and reasonable prised and others less attractive and more expensive. Generally difficult to find good value in Stavanger these days.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on our hotel. It is much appreciated.

We are glad you enjoyed the breakfast and the views, as this is something that we hope our guests enjoy. We also strive to have the same standard during the evening, so we appreciate your feedback on the fact that some of the meals were not very attractive and overpriced. The menu is something the F&B department are always working with, and your comments here were taken into consideration.

As for the rooms, yes we do have problems with the sun during the summer, but we have now installed fans in the rooms most vulnerable to the heat from the sun and we are also looking at possible ways to improve the temperature in the rooms. Hopefully this will be sorted by the summer of 2015.

So once again we thank you for your response and hope you decide to return to our hotel, and feel free to get in touch with me if you plan to visit Stavanger and our hotel in the near future.

We stayed as part of a travelling group for two nights.
The room was clean and well kept, we found that rooms with odd numbers face a rather busy road (and currently ongoing building work) so look for an even numbered room.
We seemed to arrive during a national holiday, so whether that affected a somewhat understaffed hotel I do not know, we were asked to vacate the restaurant quite early on but this left little other places to congregate with our group other than the ground floor, I'm not sure what the seating was on the first floor but that may have been a better solution. Not really such a things as a residents bar area.
The surrounding area was quite upon our visit, so parking was quite easy and on the flat, had an exhibition been on I'm not so sure how much parking would have been available. There's a handy drop off point outside of the hotel and three lifts to the floors (be aware the glass one only does odd numbered floors) so access was very easy. The hotel is very easy to get to and is only a 10minute (or 200Krone) ride away from the wharf and centre.

Room Tip: Have a even numbered room for views to the park and away from the road.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay with us,.

We apologize if you felt the hotel was understaffed, and even if it was a national holiday we still need to make sure are guests are given the required service they come to expect.

On the 2nd floor we do have a larger seating area, which is often used as a gathering area for larger groups. I am therefore unsure why your group was not informed about this, but am sorry for the iinconvenience this caused.

It is correct that the parking on the flat (outside) has limited spaces, but there is also a 3-floor parking house on the other side of the hotel owned by the same parking company (and therefore same price), which means there has never been a problem for guests finding a parking space.

We hope to see you again in the near future when/if you return to Stavanger.

Kind regards,
Marc Dudley

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in March, during the National Championships in volleyball for 15-year-olds. Because of the nationals, the staff had quite a hectical time, with hundreds of children from all over the country. In my opinion, they coped with their many guests in a very good way.

The room I stayed in was quite big, with a spectacular view from the 16th floor. Totally, there were over 20 floors, and the breakfast was eaten on the top floor. The view was fantastic and the food was good.

The hotel even had an elevator on the outside of the building, and I found it pretty exciting using it. However, this elevator is not for people who are scared of heights. A minor disadvantage was that the hotel only had three elevators. Combined with it's many floors which made it unpractical to use the stairs, this caused many waits for the elevator. The many guests made it even harder, and during breakfast time it was impossible using the crowded elevators.

Anyway, the location of the hotel was perfect. After arriving the airport, I bought tickets for the bus, and it stopped only 200 meters from the hotel. The hotel was also located next to the Stavanger Idrettshall, where the nationals were hold. Many big sports events take place here and I recommend Rica Forum Hotel if you are going to one of them.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your positive review about your stay with us.

Even though we now have 3 elevators (new elevator opened spring 2014) it is still a challenge for us in the busy periods when over 200+ people all want to eat breakfast or check out at the same time. This is unfortunately something that will always be a problem, but we can understand it can be frustrating waiting for an elevator.

We hope to see you again in the near future when/if you return to Stavanger.

Kind regards,
Marc Dudley
