“Sea view! That's about it!”
Reviewed 11 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

I'm basically going to lay out the pro's and cons of this apartment:

Pro's: Seaview, Close to the beach

Cons: Three floors of steps to reach apartment, elderly beware! Aircon has stopped working when staying over and could not be fixed due to holiday season. Had no hot water for 2 days. Looks like water leaking in shower floor. May be close to the beach but that means more noise levels as well.

I would rather recommend this apartment for younger couples on a budget but honeymooners and elderly people should definitely stay away!

Would you recommend this hotel to a friend?   No.

Hi Heinrich and thank you for your review. It's interesting to hear about so many issues only after you've checked out. I have phoned a number of times and spoken to your family to check if everything was ok and if there was anything I could help with. Their response has always been everything was fine. When I heard about the airconditioning issue in one of the bedrooms, I came to check and met with your mother I believe. Again I was told everything was ok except for the airconditioner that was not working. Now we did try our best to get it fixed but as you know shops were closed for the new year and there was nothing we could do then. I did propose to your mother to leave the other two airconditioners running to cool the room in question. As for the hot water issue it got fixed on the same day you sent me the email.
The apartment being on the third floor is clearly mentioned in the description of the advert on tripadvisor. I would normally have assumed that a potential guest would read into what they are booking . If you have an elderly with you, the least you could have done would be to check with me before making the booking. I did feel for your mum when I met her but if I don't know of an issue I cannot help you, same with the leaking shower which I am only hearing now in this review.
Please also note that your booking was for two persons only (refer to your booking details), and for me to find out that four people checked-in. Again I was happy to accommodate this change, after I found out via the property manager.
Again I appreciate your feedback. We do take all reviews seriously and will endeavour to make sure all of our guests have a pleasant stay.

Very close to the beach and restaurants,300m from a big grocery store, this self catering unit very clean but VERYstrong mouldy smell through out the apartment stemming from the kitchen cupboards below the sink(obviously a leak).Construction site 3 meters away from apartment with VERY NOISY activities starting at 07H30 every morning. You cannot open the bedroom windows or curtains during the day with all the dust, noise and people looking into your room, the same applies to the lounge with big sliding doors facing the beach area, dust covers everything!Fortunately both bedrooms and lounge have ac's but the whole idea is to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine! One bathroom with toilet, basin and shower. The "cleaning lady" and her husband were exceptionally friendly and a faulty light at the front door was fixed immediately.Frail and elderly people will have a problem with no lift and this apartment being on the 3rd floor dimly lit flight of stairs. We really struggled with our luggage up the stairs,no "help" available. But the cleanliness, convenience and beautiful beach compensated for everything;we will definitely return!

Hi and thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcome you again, minus the moldy smell this time. I will have this looked at immediately. You should also have advised the cleaning lady right away for prompt action as we do take cleanliness seriously.
Regarding the renovation noise, I have been told that they are nearly finished and this will no longer be an issue. Same goes with the dust that comes with it. Our apologies however for this inconvenience which is unfortunately out of our hands.
We do advertise as being on the third floor and we always help our guests with luggage when check-in and out. However in your case, it was agreed with Kristy (who I believe is your daughter and the person who made the booking) that her boyfriend will come and pick the apartment earlier in the day and I believe he was the one who brought you there. When you are coming next time we will be sure to help you with your luggage.
We don't normally have many issues with the apartment but we always ask our guest to let us know immediately if something is bothering them. We have provided a free phone service for this event, and the apartment manager remains at your disposal. Letting us know after you depart does not really help anyone. In the future please do not hesitate to call me or the manager at any time as our prime objective is to keep our guests happy.

Very nice 2 bedroom apartment opposite main beach on the 2nd floor. Very nice restaurant downstairs. The cleaning lady is also very nice and friendly. Winners - supermarket a view minutes walk from apartment. Walking distance to Grand Baie if you wish to walk or else use the public bus service that is in front of the unit. Taxi's also available in front of the unit. Lots of restaurants in walking distance

We stayed at the Pereybere Pearl for 8 nights and have just returned from our holiday. I can recommend this two bedroom apartment to everyone. Clean, neat, everything worked perfectly, including the super fast wifi. Ashvin stayed in contact with me from the day I made my booking. He gave me important tips and made some very good suggestions that helped us tremendously. There are ample towels to use and we liked the fact that there is an automatic washing machine, so we could wash clothes, towels, etc whenever we wanted. Sonoo (the representative) was waiting for us when we arrived and was extremely helpful in assisting us with whatever we required. He suggested we use Seeva Excursions to book our trips for sea excursions. This was a blessing as Seeva booked all our trips - Ilse aux Cerf, Parasailing, Glass Bottom Boat, Fishing, Sunset Cruise, and it was at a very affordable rate and cheaper than some of the other companies. A real magic guy. Thanks Sonoo for this contact. There are really magic restaurants at the bottom of the building and our favourites were Ric & Cat for breakfast and Chill & Grill for dinner. One comment I need to include is that the beds we slept on were of a very good quality. Sometimes one gets beds that are not good and this spoils your holiday. This was not the case with us, BEDS WERE GREAT. There is also a telephone in the unit which can be used to make local calls to book excursions or restaurants. This was very useful. There is also a convectional oven in the unit as well as a gas stove, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, TV, a drying rack for washed clothing. This unit lacks nothing. Another plus point is that each bedroom had it's own air conditioner, as well as one in the open plan living room. Excellent. Thanks for a magnificent stay. We will be back soon.

PS. Sonoo's wife Davina cleaned our unit twice during our stay. She is the most wonderful person and I received the most beautiful birthday card from her and her family on my birthday, as this was during our stay in Pereybere. Thanks Davina, you are awesome.

“Good value and location”

We stayed at Perebybere Pearl for 10 days. The owner Ashvin, Manager Sonu and driver Nanda were all great people to deal with. Ashvin and Sonu arranged for grocery items to be purchased in advance for us as the supermarket would be closed before our arrival. This was greatly appreciated. The apartment was clean and comfortable with all amenaties provided. Linen was good quality and changed every few days by Sonu's wife when she serviced the apartment. It was always clean and fresh after her visits.
The apartment was directly opposite the beach and very convenient for swimming, eating out and catching the bus. We enjoyed having a view of the ocean and main road from the balcony and were not disturbed by noise.
We consider the apartment to be good value, in a great location and comfortable. The only suggestion to improve comfort would be an airconditioner in the living area. We found that the apartment was very hot after being closed up for the day and if there was no breeze, it was extremly difficult to cool down the main area with just a fan. Bedrooms are airconditioned and very comfortable for sleeping.
We would recommend this apartment.

We've taken your feedback into consideration and have decided to install an airconditioning unit in the living room as well and it will be done before summer. Effectively the entire apartment will be airconditioned for the comfort of our future guests.

“Great holiday at Pereybere”
Reviewed 11 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

My family and I stayed at Pereybere Pearl for 8 days in December. We found the interaction with Ashvin (the owner) to be pleasant and warm and the Booking was followed through with ease. We were welcomed at the airport by Nanda who was also our taxi driver at a later occasion. He has a great knowledge about Mauritius and his insight helped us a lot with some of our choices. Sonu greeted us as the Apartment and was very helpful during our stay and attended to some minor issues with enthusiasm. Sonu also assisted us in acquiring some basic groceries which we ordered through Ashvin prior to our arrival. The cleaning lady came though twice during our stay but to be totally honest we didn't really notice a great difference. We did miss clean towels and suggest that Ashvin invest in a second set which can be used when the first is being washed/dried. The Apartment block is very hot and the air flows naturally towards the upper floors. We did have to run the air conditioning in the rooms almost constantly to allow the lounge area to cool down. We recommend that Ashvin install another air conditioner in the lounge as this will save him huge electricity costs as the rooms can remain warmer until bed time. Pereybere beach is awesome and the white sand is about 150 meters from the Apartment. We swam at the main beach as well as the smaller beach to the right. We also met Gharu who operates a local tour company. We went on a daytrip to the Mangroves as well as a bottom-of-the-ocean walk. Both were great. The food stalls along the park at the beach serves great baguettes and is very reasonably priced. For groceries we walk a few hundred meters along the road to Winners. We also did one or two trips to SuperU in Grand Baie but found Winners to stock all the essentials including beers and spirits. Ice is expensive in Mauritius (Rs80 a bag) Perhaps Ashvin could insert a few more ice trays in the freezer. Busses was our preferred choice of transport. They are frequent, cheap and safe. We used busses to travel to Grand Baie as well as Port Louis. We occasionally used taxis but had to barter with them. We bought most of our souvenirs from either SuperU or from the shop downstairs. The Port Louis market was a huge disappointment and souvenirs and t-shirts overpriced. The lady downstairs was a lot easier to shop from. We would love to return to Perebere Pearl in future.

“A wonderful week spent in a quiet village with a view off to the Sea.”

We spent a delightful week in the quiet Village of Pereybere. It was very nice to spend time in an apartment vs another hotel room. The apartment is a good size, totally renovated with all new appliances and has a very large balcony with a view out to the Indian Ocean. We are not really beach people, but We love a balcony and the Sea view was perfect. The Manager and his wife kept it spotlessly clean and even had a few groceries in the fridge for us when we arrived. Great location with a large food store just a 2 minute walk away. Just downstairs also is the #1 ranked restaurant in Pereybere "Ric and Cath Snack" where we went for cappuccinos and a couple of dinners". We spent two days snorkelling with local companies which was also convenient. With frequent bus service and walking, car is not necessary unless you want to tour the Island, but the manager also had a very reliable taxi driver we booked for an afternoon. Grand Baie is a gorgeous town only a 25 minute walk away which gas many more restaurants and shopping. We were there during their winter which was low season for tourists which we enjoyed. We will return to Mauritius!
