“Relaxing time in Gemozac”
Reviewed 19 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Enjoyed a relaxing 2 weeks in Gemozac, a quiet village 10 minutes drive from the motorway and 15 minutes from lovely beaches. With one teenager, it was probably a little too quiet for him but bringing a friend or sibling along would remedy that.

Supermarket, bakeries and a few eating places within a short walk and plenty of surrounding villages to explore.

House was well equipped and would suit the less able and families with young children.

slight downside was lack of wi-fi but wired internet access available.

“Wonderful, great place and location.”
Reviewed 28 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Really impressed with the villa, spacious, clean and excellent facilities, lots of room to have your own space. The pool was fabulous and the town lovely, the cafe next door does some excellent food if you dont feel like cooking!

“Stunning holiday would recommend.”
Reviewed 26 August 2011 for a stay in August 2011

We stayed at Chez Grand-Mere In August this year. We are a party of 4 adults and 4 children ranging from 11 to 3. The accomodation was excellent, all done to a very high standard. You have two bathrooms one with a bath so no fighting over who gets in first. The bedrooms were done out beautifully, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Bedding was very clean and plenty of towels are provided in each bedroom. Living room and kitchen had everything you could possible need. The honesty bar was a valued extra! Some evenings we had a BBQ as the weather was just perfect, as was the out door area. The pool was simply fantastic. Both children and adults had a ball. Sun loungers around the pool area are great to just relax in the sun. Very quiet secure area. We did have some concern staying near a car garage before arriving but we never heard so much as a Beep! Gemozac itself is beautiful, markets are good, supermarket just down the road. Excellent Pizza place around the corner. Alternatively Pons a few miles down the road had an excellent restaurant. If you want a very relaxing stay somewhere in France then this is the place for you. Just wished we booked for 2 weeks instead of 1.

“A cut above all holiday rentals”
Reviewed 21 August 2011 for a stay in August 2011

A beautifully restored home in the heart of the pretty village of Gemozac with only a 100m walk to the local bakery and village amenities.
The owners have gone out of their way to think of everything that one needs in this home from home - cotton sheets and comfy mattresses, a washing maching, a lavish welcome pack, pool toys and even a cool box for day trips out. The house is so well equipped you could easily pitch up with hand luggage only.
Although the friendly owners are next door, the lay out of the houses means that you feel have real privacy and they are very keen for you to get the most out of your stay. The beach at Meschers is only a 20 minute drive away and there is beautiful countryside in all directions.
I sincerely feel we would find it hard to ever top this as a rental!

“Lovely house great location”

We have stayed at Chez Grandmere twice in the last two years. The first time with friends and their two children ( we have two young daughters10 & 4) the second with our parents (62 -70) and we are planning another visit next year.
The house is spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard and very well equiped. The pool is lovely and the owners make the perfect hosts.
The property is right on the edge of town within two minutes walking distance of all the local amenities. There are a couple of bars and restaurants on the doorstep and an open air swimming pool with slides around the corner. There are a couple of supermarkets close by and a small market is held in the town every week and a much larger market every second week.
There is a small racecourse in the town and if you are lucky enough to be there when there is a meeting it is well worth a visit.
The location is ideal for touring the area with the beaches of Royan and Meschers less than half an hour away and the towns of Saintes and Cognac around 30 - 40 minutes, Bordeaux with its airport is an hours drive. The best compliment we can pay is that we cannot wait to return
