“Perfect ... Perfect .... Perfect!!!”
Reviewed 5 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Stayed once again at my favourite place with some friends, and once again had a fantastic time in amazing surroundings. I can't say enough about this property... It has everything you could want... And more!
The perfect place to either sit and relax by the pool just having "me' time, or going out to the many attractions that are very close by... And we did both in spades.
Breakfast by the pool, lunches by the canal Midi watching the boats, shopping and wine in pavement cafes in Carcasonne, a festval in Gruissan, and even a trip for lunch to Spain!!! Heaven!!!
The evenings were reserved for girlie chats, games of cards and a glass or two (did I say glass... I meant litre) of the delicious local wine at only €1 a litre.
Need to start planning for my next visit... Soon!

“A stay in Paradise”
Reviewed 30 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

I have recently returned from a stay at Maison Gallise, I have stayed all over the world and to say that this property had everything you could possibly need would be an understatement. The house and rooms were spotless and furnished to a very high standard, each room was fully equipped even with hair dryers & Straighteners in all bedrooms, even indoor and outdoor games were provided, to list everything would take me forever they really had thought of everything and gone that extra mile to make our stay perfect.
On arrival they had left us a welcome pack that included a bottle of Red & White Wine which they hadn't asked us to pay for. There was so much information about the house and area we knew exactly where to find everything and where to visit, shop and eat and just a short walk up a very quiet lane your in the heart of the Village and the traditional way of French life
So if your looking for that perfect peaceful location then look no further .

“Relaxing break in idyllic location”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

I recently stayed here with my cousins. The house is lovely, three bedrooms, bathroom and toilet upstairs. Downstairs is a beautiful lounge and kitchen/ diner with all the facilities you could wish for. Outside is the lovely heated pool, plenty of room to eat and drink and a garden to walk around. There is a pool table in the garage should the sun go in, although when we were there, the sun shone and we were able to relax by the pool and visit the local area. The village of Rieux is a short walk away, up a very slight incline which means when you return home after a few glasses of the local rose, it'sdown hill all the way. The village contains all the food shops you require plus a wine cave where you can buy wine from the local vineyards for one euro per litre! And it's good! There are also a couple of restaurants / bars to relax in should you not want to cook although there is a BBQ at the property for a nice evening by the pool. We went into Carcassone on Market day which is an enjoyable experience and had a snack with the locals in one of the pavement cafes. Le Cite is well worth a visit as is the Canal de Midi which we went to in La Redorte. We had lunch in the restaurant there and whilst not French, I had the Pizza which was to die for! All in all, this was a lovely relaxing break in an idyllic location and the perfect place to laugh and catch up with family members. I would love to go back someday.

“Peaceful...Relaxing...Perfect!!”
Reviewed 23 February 2013 for a stay in October 2012

I stayed at this wonderful villa last year, in fact I stayed there twice... And loved it so much I have booked to go again with friends in May.
I was looking on the site to show them where we would be staying and realised that I had not left any feedback... So here goes!
This is the perfect place to totally relax in idyllic surroundings, and relax we certainly did!
Surrounded by vineyards we had to, of course, have a taste of the very reasonably priced local rosé, which was enjoyed on many an evening sitting outside just enjoying the peaceful Mediterranean evenings, chatting and chilling...
The Villa was wonderful, and the owners have obviously gone the extra mile in providing all the comforts of home, including those things that you don't think to take with you, even down to a sewing kit! There is even a walk in wardrobe to put your cases and clothes etc ( could do with one of these at home!)
Coming from the UK, we tended to spend a lot of time outside by the pool, which is in itself a very social area, and a fab pool - far larger than I have experienced at other villas I have stayed at.
There are, as anywhere in the Mediterranean (and even in UK) some ants, but I do not hold the owners responsible for not training them not to come where they are not welcome... you just need to follow the usual hygiene rules of not leaving sticky things out to keep them at bay!!
Like I said... We will be visiting again in May and we are all getting really excited... CAN'T WAIT!

“Tired dirty property”

Travelled with 2 children (4 & 7)

Firstly the owners were very friendly and accommodating in relation to booking the trip which gave us confidence.

Unfortunately the reality of the property and resolution of problems was somewhat to be desired.

The facts:
Mattress in the Lemon Room was unusable as a consequence the room wasn't used
A mattress protector was used as an eiderdown
Wallpaper pealing from the wall on the landing
Toilet bins hadn't been emptied
Bathroom and toilet not cleaned, at least not in the corners (hair etc)
Cobwebs in various corners of various rooms
Cobwebs over the makeshift wardrobe..I describe wardrobe in the loosest sense of the word
Towels not changed as arranged should be each Saturday; changed the following Thurs (11 days into stay)
Dishwasher not working
No bulb in the upstairs toilet
Outer lean too (front of house) a haven for bugs and remains of their friends on the walls & windows.
Leave food on the kitchen surface at your peril - I accept it was August, but really an army of ants in minutes
General cleanliness very poor so used the Hoover - didn't work properly!
Outside the lovely long wooden table seats 16 & plenty more ants besides, sorry but it was unusable for that reason
Grass wasn't cut on arrival as expected; resolved 4/5 days into the stay
The French contact came across as rather hostile because I had the audacity to complain - very disappointing

On a positive, the pool is lovely, the kids and ourselves spent many hours outside.

The location
Sorry, but you are at the bottom of a hill, the village at the top of the hill is essentially a through road for v fast traffic, which was a disappointment, quintessentially
French other than the lunatic drivers.

Surrounding areas v pleasant, watched the farmers processing the grapes from the vineyards.
Wine is remarkably cheap.

On the whole, the property needs plenty of TLC, and a better support mechanism should be in place if you have problems.

How disappointing to have such comments posted, especially when guests who stayed pre and post this family as can be seen below experienced nothing that has been described here. It is also very odd that these comments have been listed some 6 months after their visit.

Perhaps it is an indication of the validity of their comments, that, there has never been mention of a dishwasher at our property and the hill (actually a gradual slope), that seems to have been an unexpected find, is mentioned in the holiday letting details.

On their final note of having better local support, they, like all our guests, are given the details of the local contact and my husbands mobile, both of which are available 24/7 before they arrive.
This family chose not to use these and to only communicate by email, which I do not have access to until the evening. When we asked our local contact to resolve things for them, they refused to even speak with him. Again as you can see, previous and post guests have found our local support friendly and supportive.
