“Bit like Marmite”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2014

Strange; room was spacious but not cleaned properly. Had a choice of upgrade for extra 20 a night but room was well used, dirty and smelt so stuck with the standard double. Not quite sure what the curtains were all about?????????????? very strange - blue weird material that was also a trim round the bed very unpleasant, needed washing and smelt???? I agree with previous observations regarding the curtains - looked like the cookie monster/monsters inc ! Strange hotel - very strange.

Husband said breakfast was awful; best part - the toast.

And what is it with the picture of John Malkovich in every room staring out at you???

Weird place, very strange. Not for me I'm afraid - last nail in the coffin having a check out time of 10.30 am at the weekend - come on Big Sleep (what everyone wants to do at the weekend) not really living up to your name !!!!!!!

Room Tip: Don't bother with an upgrade better off staying in a standard double

Just spent the weekend in Eastbourne at the Big Sleep Hotel. Had a very nice weekend the staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a room with a sea view, and luckily the first two days were nice and sunney, although the Sunday was very windy. The room is a good size without being large, and ensuite with a large bath. The bed was large and comfortable and easy to sleep in. The breakfast is contintal with ceral, fruit, small quarsents, coffee, tea, milk, hot chocolate, yoghurt, cheese, all as much as you wanted. There is a comfortable lounge with a bar, and a games roon in the basement although we did not look at this. Booked througt Booking.com, for £130 for us both. All in all a very nice weekend.

Room Tip: This is a large Hotel I thing most room have a sea view, but there can be some traffic noise on the...

We stay here regularly and each time we enjoy it . Very friendly staff, helpful and accommodating. It's very reasonably priced and excellent location. It's very simple, but you're getting a bargain so obviously it's not going to be like the hilton or whatever-it is however always clean and when we've got taxi's into town it only costs about £3.

We stayed here on 16th Feb had stayed elsewhere the night before but was lovely and sunny the next day so decided to stop on in Eastbourne another night we took this as it was close to where we hang out and my fella bargained them down to 45 quid (nice to see a hotel you can barter with). We booked our room and they had a baggage room for our stuff to go in until the room was ready, we got there a little before the check-in time but the receptionist said there was a room ready he gave us the keys for a second floor room but when we got to it the cleaners were still in there, we went back to reception and he switched us to a ground floor room that was ready. The room was basic with bland décor but very clean, the bathroom was ok and the bed was comfortable, you can have a late check-out for an extra tenner which my partner asked for but in the morning there was some kind of conference thing near our room so no chance of sleeping in because of the noise of chairs being set up etc... The lounge/bar area was nice and my partner said the bar staff were pleasant. It was a continental breakfast (inc in the room price) which was plenty sufficient although the cooked breakfast available looked good too. On the whole pretty average but good and clean for the price. the plus side of this hotel is that we knew someone else staying there with a dog which is hand for people that don't like to leave there pets, I suppose if we had a dog we'd stay there again but we don't so we'll most likely stick to our usual haunts.

Even for the price I was expecting a decent room but me and my partner were absolutely devastated. Staff were friendly spot on for them. The companies rooms though. Dusty, very small rooms, slept minimal to get out soon as possible. And the curtain was more like a skinned version of the cookie monster being strung up was like shag carpet. Rooms= terrible staff= 5 stars

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room spotlessly clean, great value for money. Continental breakfast more than enough with choice of cooked if you fancy really good all freshly cooked. Stayed twice recently will definitely go back there.

Room Tip: Approx 20 min walk to Town Centre but on top of the Theatres.

I do not usually review but having read some of tbe negative comments wanted to set the balance. I stayed for one night on a stormy weather evening and it was great. Reception staff were lovely, ordering taxis and serving behind bar for much needed glass of pinot. Room was fine, clean and adequate and I was lucky to get a sea view. Breakfast was fine, for the price paid for the room breakfast is a bonus in my opinion. The lounge area is lovely and again impressed when considering room prices. Would I stay there again? Definitely and my friend who I visited shall be recommending it to her friends and family in the North. Good job!
