“Great mid-range hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2012

I stayed at the Da Vinci originally for business but added a few days for a short break for myself, my wife and our 5 month old son.

The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff was a real positive, as was the decor of the room (superior double) The rooms were clean and well appointed.

The finish in the bathrooms could be improved although they were very clean. Overall the breakfast was very good but the quality of the sausages were not on par with the rest of the items.

Overall it's a great place to stay

Thank you for your positive review although I have to admit that my heart sank when I read about the quality of the sausages. We have had quite a number of positive responses about the breakfast but when we get complaints it is always about the sausages. We have tried a number of local farmers, experimented with different oils and still no joy – can you have a full English Breakfast without sausages? Regardless, you comments were much appreciated and hope it won’t be long before we see you again ….for business or pleasure

My son, daughter in law and myself stayed at the da vinci early last year just for a few days. They were in the process of giving the place a make over and some room's had been finished as had the main lounge area. We found the rooms to be spacious and well equiped both with a small but nice ensuite tea, coffee and chocolate making facilities plus free toiletries for your, use, which I personally didn't use but a nice touch.
The breakfast was most enjoyable with plenty to eat and drink and the staff all seemed very pleasant.

Room Tip: room 101 is the first room you come to on the stairs in the hotel ,which was the room I stayed in...

Thank you for your positive review of the hotel. We were pleased that you took the trouble to write and thank you for the kind comments about the room. Room 101 is one of the rooms facing the back so not the best view in the world and therefore the subject of a few moans on this website. Regardless, we like the room and think it is cosy and comfortable….we are glad you do too.

We would love to stay at this hotel again! The staff were very welcoming and very eager to help you with whatever you needed. The breakfast was outstanding both days. The room was excellent, very spacious, comfy bed. The whole hotel had a very nice sense of style and quality. Don't judge it on what it looks like from the outside, you will be very shocked as soon as you walk through the front door. Definitely worth its money!

We would love you to stay at this hotel again too and were grateful for your glowing review. Pleased to hear your positive comments about the breakfast and the “spacious, comfy bed”. Just need to sort out the front from what you said…..

As the price of B&B was LESS than a Premier Inn we were a little anxious about what we would find. Not necessary, a wonderful place. We were warmly welcomed, the case carried to our room. The room had a lofty ceiling, a new bathroom and the linen was spotless. The beds (twin) were most comfortable. The breakfast was especially quick, hot and delicious. We usually stay at the Grand at £200 a night and although very nice I would rather have 3 nights here with the most attentative hosts. We will return when we need a break from our own B&B. If looking for a restaurant close, you could do worse than dine at La Locunda del Luca. Super food.

Not sure I am delighted at being compared with a Premier Inn but I do try and keep our prices competitive in spite of the fact that there is only one of us and 600 of them. Regardless, I am pleased that you enjoyed the room, appreciated the cleanliness and liked the breakfast. We were grateful for your response and pleased you would rather stay with us for three nights than the Grand for one…seems kind of fair to us!!! The restaurant you recommended is a good choice and one of our favourites along with the restaurant next door called the Pomodoro e Mozzarella….if you mention that you are staying with us they will take 10% off your bill too!!!

We stayed here for just one night on a very blustery rainy evening (thank you for the door wedges for the sash windows, it really helped to stop the rattling). We stayed in room 107 which had beautiful large sash windows overlooking the green outside and the seafront to the right. The room was huge and with fantastic high ceilings. The bed was two singles made to create a kingsize and was comfy. The only real complaint about the room was the thickness of the curtains( not very) which led to an earlier than hoped for waking up time. Breakfast was good with the full fry up on offer plus cereals, yoghurt and fruit.
One of the main benefits of the hotel was the positioning in Eastbourne, close enough to everything to walk but still quiet.
We will be staying again.

Thank you for your kind comments and we are pleased to hear that you will be staying again with us. Glad you liked room 107 and pleased that the colour scheme was not too garish for you…we do like our bright colours!!!! Regarding the curtains, I am on the case …we have been experimenting with blackout blinds but they have proved to be a bit of a disaster. We are busy replacing curtains and curtain rails throughout the hotel but some of the colours (for example the colour in room 107) are really hard to match. In the meantime, I can recommend rooms 108, 208, 305, 307 and 308 which have curtains that will certainly black out the room.

stay here one night and you wont fail to be impressed. The hotel from the outside looks like many in the area, however enter the front door and it is very impressive. The price is not too bad either. Location a couple of minutes walk to the front. The town itself is only 5 minutes walk with lots of shops and restaurants. The rooms in the hotel are comfortable with all facilities, but the lounges are impressive, the hotel describes itself as a gallery hotel and it is just that. Interesting art on all the walls. The breakfast, as for any hotel was good, however it did come hot because it was cooked fresh. Have a look if ever you are in Easrbourn, i would go back.

So pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us even though it was only for one night. As you say, we are conveniently situated for the sea front and the town centre as well as being in the middle of the cultural centre…three theatres and an art gallery. Glad you liked the breakfast which we always cook to order rather than leaving under a heater in the breakfast room. We hope we will see you again sometime soon ... maybe for a few more nights!

My partner and I , along with his brother, brothers partner and baby went for a long weekend away and stayed at Da Vinci Eastbourne just off the sea front. Upon arrival we were all welcomed and greeted by a lovely chap names Roshan. This was very comforting as he said if we needed anything he would be more than willing to help us. He was excellent through out the stay !! A parking permit was given so we didn't need to worry about moving the car or paying and displaying... Rooms were lovely, clean and had everything needed such as ironing, tea, hairdryer, long mirror ... even a nice big flat screen tv !! All staff were friendly and housekeeping were consistent making our room cleaner than before ! Breakfast each day was superb and even had baby facilities for the little one. Restaurant recommendations were very helpful from Paul and Roshan and even got a discount of the bill for staying with Da Vinci !! Would highly recommed to any one for a short or even a long stay. Have already booked another weekend away during summer here. Absolutely fantastic, can not fault one bit. Thank you

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay at the da Vinci and I was pleased to hear that you were well looked after during your stay. Roshan, our front of house manager, is a real treasure and I know our guests are in good hands when he is on duty. Pleased to hear that housekeeping are doing their job well and that you enjoyed the breakfast as well. We are always happy to recommend restaurants and have even negotiated some reductions at a few places. Looking forward to your next stay with us.
