“Good place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

Just stayed at Ebor Lodge. A welcoming place with an excellent breakfast. David makes you very welcome. We had a room on the front with a sea view, great to wake up in the morning and see the sunshine over the sea. Handy for the promenade, the town and the train station.

We stayed here for my husbands birthday in February and had the big room on the 1st floor with the view of the sea.

I cannot fault this B&B. David who runs it is so lovely and welcoming and he even arranged a 'rock' cake for my husband to enjoy over breakfast.

Nothing negative to say at all, it is spotless, beds are divine, rooms are warm and there are a lot of little thoughtful touches that you will appreciate.

Breakfast was very nice too with a good variety for all.

Better than a hotel stay on a B&B basis.

Warm friendly welcome, with lovely , comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast. Close to the beach and walking distance to the town. A great night sleep with nice comfortable beds, and no noise. A great over night stay!

Party: mum, dad, 3 children, nan and grandad.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an on-suite.

We stayed in a small double room which had a stunning view of the hills especially during sunset, the street below was very quiet and we slept incredibly well on the top floor. We didn't hear anybody even though the place was full. We felt very comfortable staying there, so comfortable that we even ordered some food in and stayed in one night. Breakfast was good and the atmosphere was very friendly, a regular guest told us it was the best place to stay in Eastbourne. Beryl was a terrific host and her staff were incredibly friendly and smiley, it felt more like staying at my Auntie's than a B&B.

Room Tip: The top floor (Room 5) had a great view of the sunset.

Stayed in single room which has reasonable space and windows on 2 sides creating a nice light space. It's at the back of the house looking out onto a back street and was quiet and I slept well. The front of the house is on fairly busy, but not unpleasant road.
The en-suite toilet is set well back in a narrow alcove (no door) and has a washbasin. I felt their web site description of the bathroom being directly opposite was a little disingenuous as it was 14 paces along the landing past 2 other rooms and is shared. Breakfast times were between 8:45 & 9:15 (you could probably have it earlier on request) and did not have the grapefruit and prunes mentioned on their web site. Also the bread/toast was fairly cheap, the white sugar had a little brown patch and one cup seemed stained.
The room cleaning & servicing was mostly fine (they seem to want to do it from 9:30ish), although there was toilet paper in the toilet bowl when I arrived, once the bin wasn't emptied and once no biscuits.
The location is good and the price was reasonable.

We put our friends into this guest house as we have no room for them to stay with us. Beryl could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The sea view room with balcony was beautifully decorated and so clean. A real sea view, not like some who offer sea view from a side window! The breakfast which we joined in with on the first morning was excellent and any choice of eggs with whatever you wanted. A fantastic experience to be shared with trip advisor readers. A five star guest house to always be used for our friends and family. Thank you Beryl

We have a lovely couple of days at Ebor. Beryl was incredible helpful and friendly. She really went the extra mile and had tennis timetables printed and ready for us at breakfast and had suggestions about the local area and how to get around.
The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good too, being made to your order from the night before. With Ebor being right on the sea front and close to Eastbourne we walked everywhere.
We had a great relaxing few days and would definitely recommend Ebor Lodge.
Thanks Beryl,
Annie and Richard.
