We have just been on one of Queens Hotel Christmas Party nights. This was our third time and it was, yet again, a great night. I would rate the hotel higher than the three stars as the hotel oozes character and charm, the food hot and tasty, the rooms spacious and, most of the staff friendly and cheerful. It is the previous comment about most of the staff that needs seriously shaking up. On arrival we were greeted by a young lady and young man, who were smiling and helpful handing us our keys and explaining how to find our rooms and also an older lady, who was obviously in charge, who was neither smiling nor helpful. In fact she was rude and made us feel as if she thought "here we go again another coach load of party goers". Come on now, first impressions are important and staff, especially senior staff, should be welcoming and helpful even when they feel like its "here we go again". As the saying goes "Don't spoil the ship for an ha'porth of tar".

Room Tip: All rooms are spacious but supplement is worth it for a sea view

We booked 2 nights here for a long weekend. The main reason I choose the hotel was the location right by the pier and having a free car park at the front. Most of the hotels on the sea front dont have car parks and you have to get a permit and hope you can find a space. The staff where all friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with a nice view of the pier and sea front. While the room was clean and the sheets etc where obviously freshly cleaned the room and the hotel where dated in decor and style. We where b&b and the breakfast was ordinary and nothing special. It is not buffet service which we would of preferred. If you like the older style and the convenience of beind able to park right outside then you might like it.

Went on this holiday with Alfa Coach Holiday, the hotel was clean and comfortable, bathroom was recently refurbished and good standard. Food was very good and the entertainment also. Staff very nice. I booked a seaview room which overlooked the pier. Two lifts which was very good. I was travelling as a single person for the firtst time and soon met up with other people of the same position.

Room Tip: If you can choose seaview

stayed here after doing the very tough eastbourne beachy head marathon so really appreciated a great nights sleep which i got , inside the hotel was excellent , very impressive and has kept some of its victorain charm but looks quite posh so wonderful to stay here , room was large bath /shower top class and as said my body needed the rest and i slept like a log :) , breakfast was served in the dining room very large and spaciuos , very smart waitresses and super fast service but we wasnt rushed in any way , and breakfast was great with lovely cuppa tea and choice of starters and choice of hot breakfasts inc the full english and toast , certainly would not hesitate to book here again without looking fopr alternative hotels , also situated 100 yards away from pier,, right opposite it almost , and an abundance of restaurants close by and shops

Room Tip: didnt have sea view but imagine be complete if did

My wife and I and our son and daughter in law (with 1 year old) stayed here for one night in two rooms. The accommodation was fine, probably good three star but that's not really an appropriate way to rate this hotel. I loved it not for the beds, rooms, waiter served breakfast, or location but for the real English history, character and tradition that oozes from the pores of the place and the surrounding seaside. The lounges, dining room, barman and dining staff all seem to be lifted from another era, somewhere between 1895 and 1960 and the really good thing was that everything is in pristine condition. I was just waiting for Sir Cliff to step from behind a red velvet curtain and start singing the song that inspired my title.

Over all staff were good, only complaint was that in a 4 night stay with Alfa service at dinner could have been better,we had 3 different waiters and 2 night they forgot about our desert and we sat long after the sitting after us had left.Don't get the syrup sponge,I sent mine back and the second one was no better I left it,it was horrible(cold and more like pastry than sponge and not much syrup)I was asked if I would like something else but it was too late for me by this time 8pm,we had been in at 6.45.We paid extra for a sea view and were not dissappointed large twin room with lovely view of the pier.Beds comfortable and firm which we like.Beachy Head well worth the ride wonderful views.I would not go back to Eastbourne as not a lot to do,we intended to go in the summer but went to Torquay instead so pleased we did as the town has alot more to offer, and a beautiful harbour right outside the Regina hotel. As for the manager we only saw him when he welcomed us on our arrival unlike the Torquay manager who was there every day and a hands on man.

Room Tip: sea view 4th floor corner room
