What a lovely place to visit, welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed looking at all the photos and paintings. Make sure you have cash as they do not take debit or credit cards.

“A great day's walking”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Approach Beachy Head from Eastbourne, along the seafront and bear slightly right at the Martello Tower. The road is straight and rises gently leading to the public access point to the Downs. The first section is steep but it soon levels out with a wide vista across Eastbourne and the Seven Sisters. Keep walking to the pub at the top and looking over the edge of the cliff (careful! careful!) see the lighthouse far below.
Two hours to walk up, one hour to walk down. But remember to take time out to look at the plants and butterflies.

“Awesome !!!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Didn't like that you have to pay to park EVERYWHERE up there. The ticket is redeemable if you buy stuff from the National Trust Café but with a minimum spend of £10 I thought it a bit cheeky. Still if you want to pay £5 for soup and a roll then crack on. The beach was lovely and was surprised to find that the Birling gap beach was a nudist beach. Good on them for letting people be themselves. If you don't like that sort of thing...you have been warned. The cliffs are amazing and frightening at the same time. The corrosion is wearing them away at a scary rate and if you want to see something that you will probably never get to see again then visit it now. The reality is brought home when you see how close the houses are to the cliff. DO IT NOW COZ ONCE THERE GONE....THERE GONE FOREVER!!
