Owner description: Towner is an award-winning contemporary art gallery and museum for South East England. We present major exhibitions of UK and international contemporary art – and as a museum, we also have a renowned collection of art from across the ages. Learning and participation are at the heart of what we do. We pride ourselves on providing an outstanding visitor experience – our staff are always happy to talk with you! “One of the most creative and brilliantly run institutions in visual arts anywhere” – Laura Cumming, The Observer

A great place to visit for the whole family. It doesn't really matter what you think of art - be it modern or classic. The Towner will open your eyes and give children a chance to try it for themselves.

During school breaks, the Towner usually puts on a great schedule of events - often for free - for children to enjoy. And during school term, there is a room for children to draw and put pen to paper - and finally the cafe at the top will allow everyone to recharge.

Definitely worth a visit - and a few more...

Always find it interesting visiting Towner, although not being an artist find some of the exhibitions strange and not what I consider art!! Lovely things for sale in shop although some over priced.

As usual visited cafe before our theatre visit. Rather disappointed with food _cookie and cake dry and stale tasting- although was in date. Previously ate there in summer time when probably quicker turn over of food.

We are not always impressed by the exhibitions put on at the Towner, but we do appreciate that peoples tastes differ and the handsome building is a great asset to Eastbourne. We sometimes go to the cafe/restaurant and our last visit was on Saturday 1 February. The staff were very helpful and had a much better attitude than the staff we encountered some months ago. We very much enjoyed our tea/latte and cakes and will visit again. The view towards the Downs is great.

very good coffee and at long last, a manager with staff who actually care about what they are doing and offer service.
The Towner should be a premier venue and has never been exploited the way other galleries in Sussex are'
See Jerwood and de la warre and learn from them

We must be missing something because we thought this was poor. The emperor's new clothes! Every room had a guide which seemed a bit over the top as there were so few exhibits. Looks like lots of cash spent on not very much.
