“Sensual paradise”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

We have been staying here for the past 17 years and would never consider staying anywhere else.
Our hosts Rowena and Barry are a sheer delight......rooms oozing with comfort....breakfast totally decadent...(sausages to die for)
Great place to stay if you are touring Sussex

Room Tip: The four poster rooms are very inviting...but all rooms have their charm

We have been coming to Rowenas to stay for years. Always great. High quality, beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. Stayed in the luxury double which was really spacious and had the best sleep I've had in ages. Have stayed in the 4 poster room previously which is also fabulous. Gardens are beautifully maintained. Breakfast is served in the most stunning room with lovely classical music playing in the background. Didn't want to leave. will definately return.

Room Tip: Don't worry which room you choose. They are all fabulous!

We spent a very relaxing night at this elegant and comfortable B&B. Rowena gave us a warm welcome. Our room (king size double) was very pleasant with gorgeous views of the church, an extremely comfortable bed, and a large bathroom. It was a treat to have Ren toiletries. Rowena kindly booked us a table at the excellent Lamb for dinner. Breakfast was delicious, with a good menu and with nice touches such as linen napkins. All in all this is a very welcoming and well thought out place in a charming picturesque setting. We will definitely be back.

Stayed in the detatched cottage next door to the main house with my mother who is disabled. The cottage is fully equipped with all mod cons and you can self cater if you wish. We stayed for three nights over the August Bank Holiday weekend and opted for Bed and Breakfast. The cottage was ideal as it is all on one level and ideal for someone infirm. All the beds were extremely comfortable and we both enjoyed excellent nights sleep. Only one very tiny gripe; there was nowhere in the double bedroom to hang anything (only shelves and drawers) and i had to hang my dresses and skirts in the wardrobe of the twin room. It was a little inconvenient but no major issue. Apart from that the property was beautifully furnished and the patio was a delight to sit on and read the papers and have a tea or coffee looking over the beautifully tended gardens.

Rowena's breakfasts were superb as was her welcome and the service. She was most helpful in suggesting where to eat and even making bookings for us . Her local knowledge was also helpful in terms of accessibility for my mother who has problems walking.

So I can thoroughly recommend this charming place.

I booked the cottage annexe for my mum and sister, because they are infirm, and can't manage stairs very well. The cottage was lovely, with every thing that they needed. Extremely well maintained, with all the facilities for a holiday let. The only criticism was that the bathroom contained a bath with a shower, not a walk in shower. But this is a minor quibble, because it isn't advertised as suitable for the disabled.

We ordered bed and breakfast, and the meals were served in the dining room of the main house. The meals were excellent, with high quality ingredients, cooked on request, not ready prepared.

The staff were very friendly, and were extremely helpful. Any problems were sorted in minutes, rather than hours.

The gardens were stunning. Very beautiful. Other guests were having picnics on the lawn. There is even a very small, 2 hole, putting green.

The place was hard to fault.

The house is a little out of the way, and public transport is hard to find, but if you have a car, or use taxis, it is simply lovely.

We stayed 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend and were looked after superbly in this charming house with lovely gardens. Rowena and Barry were great hosts and gave us good walking tips and really could not fault a thing. Little touches were appreciated, a fridge for fresh milk and water etc on the landing, fresh coffee to brew in the room and a big comfy bed, followed by yummy breakfast, thank you.

Room Tip: The 'suite' is so very spacious and comfy!

We stayed at Wartling place last summer as we went to a wedding nearby. Barry and Rowena were fantastic and we would recommend the stay to anyone and we will definitely be going back again . Wartling place is opposite a lovely church and a great pub/restaurant called the lamb inn which Rowena recommended to us and we had a great meal. The four poster bed we stayed in was fab and the breakfast on the Sunday was delicious.
