Owner description: The current bandstand was built in 1935, with its unique semi-circular design and blue domed roof; there is no other like it in the United Kingdom. It has a main arena, middle and upper balconies and seats for 1,600. For many years the Bandstand has played host to a full programme of concerts and events and has survived as a outdoor musical entertainment venue because of its ever changing programme, introducing new audiences and new entertainment's without forgetting the more popular traditional concerts. We stumbled across the live Jazz by chance. It was a wonderful experience and the acoustics were fabulous. How lovely to have this regularly on a Thursday night! We wish we lived here!

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening along the seafront listening to the Downton music - but the highlight are the fireworks at the end of the evening. These happen every Wednesday evening during the summer. Don't miss it....

Fabulous show and location. Each week there is a different musical theme and is always well attended. It has an on site bar serving drinks, coffee and teas.

Fab night, danced and sang along the whole show.
Queue was long and slow for the bar, but it didn't spoil our night.

Great outdoor venue for seeing a live act, with a reasonably priced bar. The only down points were the lack of cover when the rain hit (but that's a chance you take), and the fact that every time someone in your group needs the toilet you have to hunt around for twenty pence and then leave the bandstand to get to them. When you pay for entry you feel facilities should be free.
