“Weekend trip second visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

The hotel is nicely situated on the sea front and close to the town centre. We felt that our second stay was less enjoyable than our first. Two major concerns were the rudeness of the duty restaurant manger and the erratic nature of the hot water. Some of party were unable to shower and we were concerned about the excess heat of the hot water. On the plus side the major of the staff were delightful.

we stayed at the chatsworth last week and although it looked grand from the outside and the ornate lift in the reception area gave an appearance of being grand it was not.
it was clean and the breakfasts that we had were excellent
the staff were ok in reception but could have been a bit more welcoming. In the dining room you could not fault the staff

The rooms were spacious but in desperate need of redecorating and the furniture needs upgrading too especially the beds they were awful didn't have a decent sleep whilst we were there and they need to get rid of the domestic fridge as that is disturbing when it kicks in during the night.
The bar is very small but comfortable but watch out for the prices as they seem to change the prices for the same drinks.
Also on check out it would be nice if asked if we had enjoyed our stay but they were not interested

We stayed 3 nights at the Chatsworth as we attended a conference in Eastbourne. The rooms were clean and comfortable , We had hot water unlike last year when we stayed in the sister hotel Mansion Lion which is next door to the Chatsworth .
The staff were helpful and went out their way to make us feel welcome. We would stay again.

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel, and I used it as a base for a conference in Eastbourne. The first night was very disturbed as there was a problem with the pipes which meant that every time someone in the vicinity , including myself, turned on a tap there was a horrid banging sound like a drill. This went on during the night. I mentioned it to reception the next morning and they tried to tell me it was an extractor fan. I insisted it wasn't and they must have done something as the next night was very peaceful. The reception staff were friendly and explained the parking system (£1 a day in designated bays, which is great as there is a charge for parking along the sea front).

The hotel is in a great location on the seafront, so accessible to the town centre, restaurants, the Devonshire theatres (5 ins walk) etc.It is however very tired and could do with redecorating to make the rooms and ensuite more 'welcoming'. My ensuite was really tiny, but adequate for what I needed. THere were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, along with a hairdryer, and randomly, an old kitchen fridge!

The breakfast was good, a wide choice of cooked breakfast including fish, porridge and full English. There was basic cereals and toast available. The fruit was tinned grapefruit, tinned oranges and tinned prunes and fruit yoghurt.

Overall the hotel serves a purpose and is a good value, basic hotel to use if you want a base for going out in the daytime.

On our many trips to Eastbourne we always pop into this hotel.

A classic bayfronted Victorian hotel in the most fantastic seafront location. It's one of the smaller ones, but no less grand. When the sun's shining you can enjoy the added bonus of their lovely raised terrace at the front too, which is also small, but just perfect for giving you a first class opportunity to watch the world go by.

Many a time we've said that we would like to stay over one day and I am SO glad that we did. It was late November and there was a lovely Christmassy atmosphere with laughter and smiles all around ... even the staff were jolly and good-humoured! What does that tell you about how lovely the experience was?

To our further delight we were upgraded to a suite at the front which overlooked the seafront. Fabulous views from the windows and a warm and comfy bed to wallow in plus a very spacious separate lounge area too. The bathroom was in need of updating with tiles on the floor begging attention but this was a small niggle which hardly distracted from the overall comfort of the accommodation.

We ended up spending our whole evening chatting to other guests in the bar, as again although small, it has a lovely atmosphere and is great for friendly get-togethers. Reasonably priced drinks too!

We were a little late for breakfast which was somewhat hurried as a lot of guests were due to go out on a day trip, but the food was nonetheless excellent and plentiful.

Before leaving, Santa gave us a box of chocolates each too. Well, that just about says it all. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front offer fantastic views whatever the weather and aren't nearly as noisy as you...

I stayed here for work, when I first turned up the rooms were boiling hot, and u couldnt turn the heating off. Then the food in the restaurant was alfall, it tasted like a microwaved dinner, and u didnt hav a choice of what u wanted. The windows got jamed open, the showers would flood, there was damp patches in the rooms. I wouldnt ever pay to stay here , dnt waste ur money!!!!
