Took a Travelzoo offer to the DPH on a DBB basis for three nights in early June. The hotel and staff could not be faulted.the hotel was clean and spacious and rooms where a good size, with everything that was needed for a short break. The food was of good quality both for dinner and breakfast.I would recommend this hotel to everybody, young or old.We will be going back for another stay later in the year.

Room Tip: Room 16 was a standard double with a sofa to sit on and a great walk in shower.

The windows in room 16 are broken and don't close properly, causing the wind to whistle all night.
This was reported to to management, they obviously knew but wasn't interested.
On the Sunday morning the cleaning staff knocked our door at 8 am and again at 9.15
when we would have been checking out at 11am.
Don't expect to have a lie in on you weekend away, as cooked breakfast finishes at 9.30am

We also booked with aTravelZoo Voucher, the same deal as others, and what a brilliant time we had. You have the occasional event when everything is perfect, and this was one of those. We have stayed in Eastbourne a number of times at different hotels, usually on an internet deals and you put up with small problems because it was a good 'deal'. However I can honestly say the The Devonshire Park Hotel surpassed all our expectations. The room was very spacious with a Super Kingsize bed, and being a corner room, had a double aspect with good views of gardens and the Theatre district opposite (more of that later). The room and en-suite were very clean with all the extras of hospitality tray, etc, including complimentary mineral water.
The food was excellent and we dined in the hotel on both nights, the first night being part of the deal and chose to dine the second evening as the food was so good. Breakfast was incredible and deserving of a mention in it's own right. A fabulous choice of continental style goodies, pastries, fruit salad, cereals, etc, and the hot food was cooked to order,,full english or any choice of eggs, toast, and smoked haddock, smoked salmon, gammon and cheese.
The staff are proffesional, friendly and make the effort to ensure you enjoy your stay.
The hotel is immaculate, and NOT faded, shabby or any other description that insinuates a past times. I would certainl;y NOT consider it as 'for older ladies and gentlemen' and am realy puzzled by a previous reviewer who described it as such, unless they mean a mature client who appreciates quality when they see it. We had also booked to see a Musical at the Congress Theatre, which is opposite the hotel, and they have an earlier dinner time of 5.45pm if you are visting a theatre. If you are reading these reviews to help to decide whether to book this hotel, then don't hesitate, you will love it. We are coming back later in the year for a week and really looking forward to it

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the above hotel and everything was excellent.
The hotel is very clean and the food was delicious
The staff are all very friendly.
Always a joy to find a hotel that matches the pictures shown in their brochure.

Our stay, like many others who have reviewed this hotel, was booked through Travelzoo and there is no doubt that it was an excellent deal (£129 for two nights bed and breakfast with dinner on the first night). However, whilst the actual building is an older, traditional style, with high ceilings and some original features, I would describe the hotel as uninspiring with a somewhat faded feel to it. There was definitely an air of old fashioned seaside hotel about the place. That said, it is reasonably well kept, peaceful, centrally located and has its own small parking area. We found the staff to be very helpful and our room was large, sufficiently comfortable and had a well stocked hospitality tray.

For us, though, this deal scored because of the food which was truly excellent. We enjoyed a superb dinner on the first night which we ordered from the main menu and which would have cost in the region of £60 for the two of us, had we ordered from the menu and not been on the Travelzoo deal. The breakfast on both mornings was also of a very high standard, tasty and with the hot food being freshly cooked to order. In some respects, though, I felt that the skills of the kitchen were not matched by the slightly worn and tired looking appearance of the hotel. Overall, though, we had no complaints and enjoyed a pleasant two night stay.

Firstly I would like to comment on 'fairys' review. We stayed on a travel zoo deal AND upgraded. It is £20 per night not per person. You commented on a second breakfast meaning it was a two night stay.

The rooms were spacious and very clean, staff were friendly and attentive. They offered to change my partners starter (he will eat tomato soup which is runny but didn't like the thick - full of tomatoes soup on offer at the hotel! Which incidentally was delicious) I had a steak which was done beautifully and my partner had lamb and there was plenty of meat. We certainly didn't have overlooked vegetables. Our breakfasts were fine. In all we had NO COMPLAINTS. Location was ideal too being just off the promenade and cafés etc. perfect. Thank you again to all the staff at The Devonshire Park Hotel.

We shall certainly return and look forward to doing so.

I have just got back from taking my elderly mum to Eastbourne over the long bank holiday weekend
The hotel is so geared up for older ladies and gentlemen. From the car park there is access to a lift to all floors. Our room was very spacious and very clean.
All staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was hot and tasty and for the 2 nights stay we also ate in the restaurant. Both meals were very good.
As mum was a bit tired one evening we borrowed one of the DVDs avaliable and sat in our room on the comfy beds relaxing.
The hotel is within walking distance to the sea front and also the shoppping areas and as said on previous reviews very near the theatres
