Had a fantastic lunch on Sunday 23rd at one of the monthly Jazz Lunches. Jazz band were excellent as was the atmosphere, food and wine. Would really recommend to anyone for something different.

We spent a week there 9th to the 16th august. Lovely location. Very disappointed with the room. At back of hotel with no view. Room was small and only small shower and toilet area. Breakfast was very good. Evening meals were very poor. Most of the meat meals were tough. When we asked to see the chef he was always to busy. On the last night the beef was so tough lots of people just left their meat. Still the chef was to busy. I must say that the waiting staff were great sometimes under difficult circumstances because of the chef's refusal to see us. Would I go there again absolutely not

Room Tip: Ours was a bowling group so we did not have a say in the room. BUT FOR WHAT i PAID i WAS EXPECTING B...

I was most interested in your comment that you expected more for the money you paid. What you are probably not taking into account is the fact that, as a member of a bowls group, you are also paying a substantial amount for the hire of the coach to bring you here and take you to bowls matches each day as well as paying the different bowls clubs you visit. In fact we offer a reduced half board rate for group bookings compared to individual bookings and most people seem to understand that because of this we usually allocate inland rather than seaview rooms.
We were aware there was a problem with the beef on your last evening but not sure why you wanted to see the chef (who was very busy cooking for over 130 guests) - were you thinking of lynching him? I specifically gave an instruction for him not to come to the restaurant during service but he did come up to Reception later in the evening and spoke to one member of your group. Unfortunately the meat was not up to our usual standard which we explained at the time and we have taken this up with our supplier. I also apologised to the organiser of your group. I was certainly not aware of any problems with any other meals, I spoke to the organiser every day and he had no other complaints whatsoever.

So, this hotel is right on the seacoast so there is a lovely view with the waves crashing in. The hoitel is clean in general, so that is nice. In general this is a hotel for the elderly though.
It is a bit away from the city centre.

Pros
No loud neighbours, dont know if it was because its soundproof, or if they were asleep or simply a vacant room.
Nice big room
Cool bedside lamps
Decent bathroom
Nicely assorted bathproducts
Seasideview!
Firm bed
Free wifi, good connection

Cons
The shower was not more than a weak pressured tap
Furniture is adjusted for the elderly, tall hard chairs
TV small and on the opposit side of a big room
No aircon, was very warm and opening the window ment bugs inside
The woman at the frontdesk wasnt very experienced so checking in got a bit awkard.
Breakfast was table service, though the food didnt havet a "personal touch" kind of feel or taste even though the servingstaff was nice and competent!
Bedding was the old blanket on a sheet-type, no duvet!

Hope youll have a nice stay but were probably will try a new hotel if we come to Eastbourne again.

Dear CarroEriksson,

Thank you very much for sharing your personal experience about your stay with us. I am sorry to read that those cons marred your stay with us so much and that we were not your style. I am sure had we been aware about a problem with the shower, or the temperature we could have made you more comfortable. Some of your comments are a bit nit picky but I will take note and I do appreciate the positives you have mentioned. This hotel is a universal product that does appeal to the vast majority of visitors who stay here and our overall design is not aimed at a specific age group as outlined in your review. I do hope you find what you are looking for in the future.

With kind regards

Visited with my daughter for 3 nights. This hotel does need updating in some public rooms, the bar seemed dark and dingy when we arrived at night and the reception and lifts have the same feel but it's clear updating is in progress. Our room was also a little old fashioned but it was large and comfortable and had a new, modern and fabulous bathroom with walk in shower so even though the room wasn't exactly as described on the web site (it didn't have a bath) we were happy. The room became very hot but we were supplied a fan on request. It was at the front of the hotel and we had amazing sea views.
The customer service was very good with every effort made to please. We had some problems and niggles during our stay but we were compensated and left satisfied, Only one member of staff had a slight 'attitude' everyone else we encountered was welcoming and friendly.
We found the breakfast, which isn't a buffet, to have very small portions (one veggie sausage, half a tomato and tiny triangle of fried bread for example with the vegetarian breakfast) but it could be the case that a larger portion is provided on request. It would have also been nice to have the option of fresh fruit salad. However no complaints whatsoever concerning the cream tea which was fantastic and also the dinner which was very, very nice indeed. We only managed to eat dinner once in the hotel but would definitely recommend it and eating in the conservatory looking out to sea was lovely.
There is entertainment at night which everyone seemed to enjoy. Car parking is charged extra and in some secured army barracks about five minutes walk away. Overall a nice break and a good hotel.

Dear crystal9078,

Thank you very much for your sharing your experience and your recommendation. I am really glad you enjoyed your stay and that we took good care of those little niggles. Our public areas are refurbished and but do look darker at night especially if not all the lights are on. I was not aware of a 'slight attitude' with a member of staff and I am sorry to read this. Yes, you can always request more items for your breakfast including fruit and I am pleased dinner and afternoon tea were well received. Please do return to us again soon.

With kind regards

We stopped in room 242 from 14th August - 17th August for the airshow, we had a side room with one window facing the sea and the other the road, so partial sea view. The room was fine with everything you needed. They have a nice little bar and weather permitting a lovely outside area to eat/drink and watch the world go by.The breakfast, which was included in the price was very nice, you choose from a menu and then it is brought to your table. My husband opted for the fish one morning which he thoroughly enjoyed, I had full English as well as the continental for a change. Most of the staff were very friendly at breakfast time but there were a few that really didn't want to be there!! This is the second time we have stopped in this hotel and cant fault it.
One recommendation for the hotel manager - Please can you get a shaving mirror to put on the windowsill in room 242 as the mirror is right in the corner of the bathroom besides the sink and impossible to shave properly. Only a slight niggle, other than that a lovely stay. We hope to return for the airshow next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room if this is important to you

My wife has to eat a FODMAPS diet, it really challenges most chefs, Michael at the langham took it in his stride and produced meals just perfect for her.. A great hotel owned by Neil who started as a washer up and fought his way up the hotel management ladder, he has even written a book about his life story.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view. But it's is an extra few bob

The staff were excellent; helpful, efficient and courteous. Our rooms a the back of the hotel may be due some refurbishment, but were very clean, comfortable and quiet. Dinner was very good value and the breakfast freshly cooked to order. We felt nothing was too much trouble.
