I took my mother on the Amazon deal for 2 nights B&B. We paid an upgrade for a twin room and were given one of the huge disabled rooms on the 2nd floor overlooking the seafront. It was such a pleasant surprise once inside, given that it's not the most attractive building from outside. We had a ramp onto one of the two balconies, a good sized wardrobe with safe, flat screen TV and pullout refreshment tray. If I was going to be really picky, the only thing it was missing was a minibar/fridge. Onto the bathroom. It was massive and brand new. It had a double wheel-in/walk-in wet room with four showers - 2 with hoses and 2 rainshower type. Toiletries were provided. My mum suffers with a brain disorder and doesn't sleep well and the staff kindly brought up extra pillows and duvets to try and make her more comfortable. Breakfast was ample and tasty. Cereals, dried fruit, fresh fruit and yoghurt, pastries and the usual cooked fare served buffet style. You could also order poached eggs or porridge. We ate in the restaurant on the first day. It was a 3 course set menu + tea/coffee for £18.95. There was a limited choice, however the food we had was fine. Had I been with my husband we would have probably eaten out, but my mum and I both enjoyed our meal. The portions were good and the food was tasty. We both had hoisin duck salad to start, I had grilled bream and she had chicken curry for main and we both had a very generous cheeseboard for dessert. No complaints at all. We really enjoyed our trip to the Eastbourne Centre - what a fab refurbishment. The weather was great and we were lucky enough to visit when the car show was across the road. We had prime viewing from our sunny balcony! But I have saved the best for last. It was the staff who made this stay so good. I have stayed in many hotels around the world and this had to rank amongst the best for service. All staff, without exception, were efficient and courteous, but more than that, they were kind. The lady whom I originally spoke to on the phone when I booked and whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, but who was so helpful when explaining our requirements, the ladies on reception, all of them, lovely. The waiters and waitresses in the restaurant were also so helpful. A special mention must go to Pauline in the restaurant. What an asset. The small things that were done for us, such as making sure we had a table where mum could rest her head against the wall, probably didn't seem much but made a huge difference and meant that mum could cope in her surroundings and enjoy a lovely break. I would definitely return and can't thank you all enough. I would heartily recommend this hotel for anyone of limited mobility or disability, but would happily go back with my family as the rooms/views are great.
