“Catering for 50”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

We recently went with 50 people for a Bridge weekend. The staff were already to unload our bus and the excellent service continued throughout our stay. Meals were traditional English but very good of their kind. The hotel was adapted from a terrace of Victorian/Edwardian middle class houses and this shows; serpentine corridors and bedrooms which were not larger than necessary. If you like Eastbourne this is the place for you.

The Hotel was clean and very central to the promenade. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was hot and exactly what you would expect for a seaside lower rated hotel. The bedrooms were very basic and very small. They had started out as small bedrooms made worse when the bathroom was fitted in that limited space. the furnishings were tired and did not match. The bed was awful, no telephone. The bathroom was very small and very poor and the shower was a joke.

We were there for 3 nights in a group of 50 and we had booked a social room to play bridge in. This was in the basement and was cramped, hot and the bridge facilities were very poor.

We were on a half board basis.

There was a resident singer who nobody was taking any notice of and his only success was to keep people in rooms on the first floor awake. Pay a little extra and stay at a Holiday Inn would be my suggestion.

Room Tip: Look at a few rooms because they did vary considerably in size

The hotel was good and quite well appointed for the sea, although being on the side angle from the it, there was no proper view of it until you were outside it and down the steps.
The food was first class and the attention to detail was again first class. The only point about the food was that the plates were cold on the first dinner time. This though was altered after a number of the party said about that.
I, as a disabled person, found, even though there was a lift, it a little hampering being placed in a room on the third floor after requesting a low floor room,

I was pleased with the attention to detail pf not having to try, with also having to use a pair of walking sticks, to carry food on plates around as there was waiter/waitress service at every meal.

The evening entertainment was always too loud for the size of the room, but mostly there was enough seating for all.

Everyone was very helpful and could not do enough for you,

I enjoyed my holiday, but as I travelled from Yorkshire, and picked alot of other people up as thr coach travelled south, that got a little tedious by the time we had everyone on board.

Room Tip: Ask for a twin room. More space in shower and more space for putting things out or in cupboards/draw...

i have just returned from the hadleigh with my group of 57 people the hotel is lovely the food excellent and all waitresses brilliant very freindly and helpful lawrie on bingo who i did the checking for and the bar staff especially sam who joined in with my group like he had known them years
two small faults 1 was i was allocated a back room over looking the bins for a organiser this was not the best view a hotel can offer but you may learn from this
the main problem was the lack of any disabled access sadly lets the hotel down
the entertainment was also very good

We have just returned from a five day break at the Hadleigh Hotel in Eastbourne. The hotel was clean, the rooms although not large were adequate and warm. The staff were courteous and helpful in every way. The waiting staff in the restaurent, especiallly Denise could not have been more helpful. They seemed to anticipate all your wishes. Overall the Hadleigh Hotel was a joy to stay in . I commend Jay and Kay on their choice of hotels.

Hi we had a wonderful time at this hotel. It was clean and comfortable, the beds were comfy a bit firm, the food was good but not much choice for a vegetarian. We could not fault the service we got from all the staff they were very polite and helpful and even participated in our fun . We had 2 coachfuls of family and friends for a 60th birthday for 3 nights stay, the entertainment on Friday wasn't bad but not my cup of tea but the singer on Sunday night was fantastic would gladly pay to see and hear him again
