Overall for the price you pay, you would not expect THE HILTON. We stayed for four nights with a sea view room. Room was clean with good laundry service. The whole upstairs is like a rabbit warren, poor decoration, worn out carpets and floor boards that creak and deafen you while walking over landings. The reception and bar area are fine and comfortable, that investment is desperately needed for upstairs. The same two drinks purchased at the bar changed 5 times in a four day period SAME BARMAN. There is a happy hour at the bar and i never used this facility, when i challenged this discrepancy a poor excuse was given???l Restaurant and food very good Breakfast exceptional with excellent staffing.

Take note of the bad reviews. I wish I had! The place is filthy and tired out. The room I stayed in reeked of cigarettes. The carpet was covered in stains. The paint on the walls was very marked. The furniture was cheap, scratched and past it. I could not eat the breakfast. I could go in .., but you get the gist. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Arrived to a small twin bedroom over looking the beach. The bathroom was very small, as was the shower room. On the first morning we discovered that the shower was broken, the only setting was boiling hot. Having said that we reported it and it was sorted out before we arrived back later that day. It was pointless having a kettle in the room because the sink was so small it wouldnt have fit in. I was awoken on the second night at 4.30am by my friend putting the radiator back up on the wall after it fell off. Food was ok, nothing special but no complaints either.

Thanks for your comments. We recently introduced buffet breakfast and i am glad you liked it. There will be various other changes taking place and we are addressing the bedroom and carpet issues. Do visit us again and i am sure you will see what we have done.

To say this hotel is a bit tired is generous. It has an air of shabbiness, but that would be ok if it did not have the Hilton name, which is misleading to say the least. Our room had a sea view which was lovely but the shower was cramped and about the same size as a caravan shower room. The carpet in the room was stained and in dire need of replacement. We were only staying one night; more and I would have been looking to go elsewhere.
Minus points- Shabbiness, stained carpet, cramped shower, misleading name
Plus points- sea view, comfortable bed, good buffet breakfast, helpful staff; particularly barman and breakfast staff.

Room Tip: View of sea is good.

Having pre-booked this hotel without the benefit of the reviews we asked if we could inspect the room but didn't get any further than the corridor on the first floor.
On entering the hotel there was an unpleasant smell in the foyer which contained a number of unwelcoming brown leather seats. The carpet on the above-mentioned corridor appeared dirty and paint was peeling from exposed pipework. We decided not to stay.

We had seen the reviews but went with an open mind, how wrong were we. The room its self wasn't to bad, although no locks on the windows and the bed base needed replacing before it brakes.

The food however was terrible as was the service, we arrived in the bistro and there was no one to welcome us. We selected a table and was told it would be better to sit on a table for two ( they were not busy). The rolls were served to you from a washing up bowl, two types of starters and three types of main course. All should have been hot but were served cold, when we asked for the main meal to be freshly cooked, was told the chief had gone home. Dinner is served between 6.30 and 8pm, This was 7pm, this chief must have cooked a load of dinners and just placed them under heat lamp. They offered to warm the fish and chips I the microwave!! We ended up walking out.

The manager is rude and its excuse after excuse. Doesn't listen you your complaints and lies.

This hotel needs to be closed and sorted out, starting with the Manager, I feel for the staff with a leader like him.

DONT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS, Travelodge or premier are miles better than this place.

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused. To take care of this we have a new food and beverage manager and a new chef in the kitchen. I am sure this will take care of the future issues related to restaurant service.

This stay was to be a relaxing time for myself and My Husband, We are both Nurses working in Bexhill on sea area, This Hotel bedroom was a Health and Safety Risk, Hot Day window not opening , Bed broken at feet end. Room had hairs and hair bands on floor, Room changed with much Face expressions from Staff on desk and rudeness. This room the shower was slow and old, window opened but to remain open had to put a towel there .evening meal was very poor and tastless ,table had old napkins on the floor, not ventilation therefore very uncomfortable.
We were very unhappy at the poor Service and lack of concideration for a paying guest.
I will be looking forward to any comment or action taken by The Management of this Hotel
