I agree with the latest reviews and can only add that this hotel is lovely. The nicest staff who are all so friendly. The food was lovely and the portions were fine for us but i,d like to add that our coach driver (We were on a 5 day coach trip with Alfa travel) told us that you can ask for more and they,re more than happy to do this. So no need to moan about *small portions*. Also another tip is when you book, if you want a bath as well as a shower, just ask for this also. Some rooms are showers only. I thought it was lovely the way the manager comes out to the coach when you arrive to greet you and he does the same when your leaving. He also provided soup and sandwiches when we arrived. Lovely personal touch. Its a quiet hotel, all entertainment finishes by 11pm and the bar closes too so if you want loud and lively and younger people it wont suit, but for a relaxing break and lovely food and rooms it fine. Well done to all the lovely staff, a credit to the Hydro.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view away from the A/C

(Stayed at the Hydro from 14th August for four nights.)
I haven't a clue what people find to complain about when booking this hotel especially as part of a coach tour.
The hotel was beautifully clean. The staff couldn't be more helpful if they tried. Our room (200) was a beautiful sea facing bedroom and plenty big enough for the time you were actually in there. Food was exceptional perhaps the best food we have had on a coach holiday.
Thank you Hydro for an amazing stay we hope to be back very soon.

I've just returned from a 4 day visit to the Hydro hotel and wanted to share my experience. I took my elderly mum (82) who is a wheelchair user, by car. As most residents were on coach trips we didn't have a problem parking on the car park and were offered assistance with our luggage as soon as we arrived at reception.

We thought all the staff we encountered were lovely: smiley, friendly, professional and very obliging. A special mention to our waiter, Anthony.

Our twin bedded room (111) was fine: spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds and pillows, adequate wardrobe/drawer space and a good shower which suited my disabled mum.

The food in the restaurant was good and there was plenty of choice to suit my faddy (!) mother. Other reviewers have mentioned small portions on here. I thought they were fine as you had 3 courses each meal time. I'm sure people with larger appetites could fill up on toast, bread rolls or ask for more potatoes!

Lift access was good despite there only being the one lift and we never had to wait long. On some floors there are a few steps between levels before reaching a lift point. If mobility is an issue this can be planned when booking the room to avoid these bedrooms.

Every evening there was entertainment: bingo and a singer until about 11. This was tailored to the elderly residents and dancing and participation with singing was encouraged!

The location is great being opposite the beach at the quieter end. My mum enjoyed sitting in the glass conservatory area at the front of the hotel enjoying the wonderful sea view and view of the Great Orme. We enjoyed a day out at Conwy and Castle and also went to Beaumaris and Castle. Another good trip is up the Orme. We took the tramcar which was a bit of a struggle with the wheelchair but we made it!

All in all, a very enjoyable holiday and we would recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask about access to the lift if mobility is an issue although there are ground floor rooms,

I just got back from six nights in the Hydro Hotel. I was a little apprehensive, having read some negative reviews before I arrived. Got to say I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Hydro. The Manager Emil, and his staff really could not have been more efficient, professional or friendly. My single room (140) was on the small side, but perfectly clean and comfortable. The meals were excellent, and our waiter Anthony was really friendly and hard-working. The location of the hotel could hardly be better - right on the sea front with wonderful views of the bay, the Great Orme, the pier.... sunrises and sunsets were awesome.

Only one negative thing about the stay were the bloody noisy seagulls that just never seemed to stop, even during the night. Can hardly blame that on the hotel, though! Weather was extremely hot so rooms but a bit stuffy at night, but fans were provided if you asked.

The excursions were great, with the exception of Caernavon - beautiful castle, shame about the town - don't bother!

Just arrived home today after spending 4 days at the Hydro, I have to say I was apprehensive after reading the negative reviews. Our stay was wonderful, room was clean and tidy (Room 118, first floor) although out of date and could do with a re-vamp it was a good base. Food was excellent and the staff were lovely, very polite and helpful. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: Double room 118, 1st floor is excellent, you overlook the promenade, wasn't noisy when we were t...
