Reviewed 18 November 2013

Just returned from a two day trip for my mums 80th birthday treat , the hotel is in a lovely position with full sea view has its own parking. Although it is a old building the outside is well presented . The ambience is so pleasant on arriving the public areas kept lovely and warm with gentle background music. The reception staff are pleasant and efficient. Rooms are clean warm and adequate ( although not luxurious ). Food was good ..fine for the price we paid and although the portions were not massive by the time we had had the 3 course we were full. The food was served well and piping hot. The audience in the evening was mostly older and the entertainment was good with the hotel staff providing bingo raffles etc . Overall good value for money the hotel may be 2* but the staff are 5 * they are polite friendly and efficient and truly deserve praise it's so rare these days to get good service that when we do we should feed it back as we are quick to complain. So well done to all the staff at the Hydro you are fab and a credit to your employers x thank you for a pleasant stay xx

The hotel is very well situated on the sea front. The hotel is very clean and welcoming and the staff are very helpful. This was my seventh visit for the "Tinsel and Turkey" holiday. There is a new manager now after years of seeing Mr Dodds, we were interested to meet the new manager ,a very presentable young man. He did wait on in the restaurant, on some occasions, something that Mr Dodds never did, but, there was no need for Mr Dodds to wait on as we were always in the past designated our own waitress or waiter. I think that table 40 was in "no mans land" or "no Waiter/Waitress land". I was told that they worked as a team, but, the old system worked better. Having made that point of contention, generally the staff were very helpful, they just need more training or organisation in the dining room.
There was entertainment everynight in the ballroom. The entertainer on Tuesday night being the best one of the week. Very funny and entertaining. The entertainer on Wednesday was still using the same speil that he used two years ago when I last saw him.
The reception on arrival was excellent and we were issued with our keys very promptly. My room was a single room, the nicest one I have ever had there, with a lovely shower room. The room and the hotel are always very warm. I find this very welcoming.

We went on a Festive Fun 5 day break. We have been on this type of break many times in other areas and hotels but this was by far the best. The manager, Emile, and his staff are a credit to this hotel. They genuinely want you to have a lovely time and you feel like they are enjoying their jobs. The food was lovely. The entertainment was superb (I have found other hotels only cater for couples who like ballroom type dancing but this would suit everyone). The hotel and our room were very clean. The drivers are very helpful and informative. The attention to detail is excellent - down to Christmas quizzes and games. And to top it all it was excellent value for money! Like many people we booked again for next year before we left.

Stayed during October with Alfa Travel and found that our driver Alan was very well informed about the area's that we travelled through. I stayed in a single room which was quite small but had everything I needed. The bathroom was also small but again had everything I required and also a very good shower that I think was new. ( So ongoing refurbishment is being carried out) The room was situated on one side of the hotel and I did have a sea view. Although radiators were switched off, the room was still warm and cosey. I have to say the rooms and public places were clean and although this is an old hotel it is still a very impressive large seafront building and appears to be well looked after. Location is good, just across from the beach and not far for a level walk to the town and shops. I only went to the entertainment in the hotel on one night and found it to be ok. All the staff I found to be pleasant and helpful. Food was adequate and was served promptly by waiting staff. Yes very nice stay and as always very good value for money even though you pay a supplement for a single room. Well done the Manager and his staff. Moses

This was our first coach holiday with Alfa, and i wasn't dissapointed. We arrived by feeder coach to Burturn Woods Interchange where we boarded our coach for Llandudno. Our driver George gave us all the information we would need when we got off etc, plus plenty of facts and figures about the area we were traveling through.
On arrival at the Hydro the new manager Emile boarded the coach to welcome us all on on board and advised us how to check in etc .From that moment on we all felt welcome, it was like one big happy family.
Our room 133 was on the first floor with twin beds and shower, it was very spacious, and spotlessly clean.
The food was of a very good standard and on occasions the chef would come out and ask guests if they had enjoyed their meal.
All the waiting staff were excellent , friendly and polite.
The maids did a fantastic job and always had a smile.
Entertainment each night was a mixture, my favorite was the singer/comedian.
Bingo was also played , i early game and then another game at 9.30, so it wasn't overkill.
We had 2 and days trips out , George knows all about the area so it all very interesting. We did an extra trip in mini buses for half a day round town and up the The Great Orme, the views are spectacular, nice cafe at the top and Alan again full of facts.
We added a train trip on one of the days from Porthmadog to Bleinau Festiniog. that was good if you got sat on the right hand side so you could see the views .
All in all a very good holiday , met some lovely people, really enjoyed the Hydro and would definatley go back and also recomend it.Llandudno is lovely and flat for walking, the street that runs paralell behind the hotel (Mostyn Street )has lots of shops.
On leaving Emile came on board to wish us a safe jouney home and waved us off. Would i go back,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,o yes :)

Room Tip: 133 i cannot fault hardley any traffic noise
