Llandudno itself is a pleasant place, along the coast in North Wales. Not nearly as cute & charming as nearby Conwy, the Great Orme (crescent) with its many ocean facing hotels is a throwback to a by-gone era. We booked thru Booking.com, because we couldn't find rooms in Conwy. Getting here is itself an endeavor - missed the train to Llandudno from Llandudno Junction, waited 30 minutes for a taxi, which we were grateful to get. Once here, on a dark and stormy night, the hotel had stopped serving dinner at seven but got us a taxi into the main part of town. Our room itself was up and down and around - in what we discovered used to be the servants quarters back in the Victorian era. Small, with a small window high up, the sheets felt like the worst grade linens possible, and the faded sad brown pilly blankets made me avert my eyes. Staying here is sort of like a Fawlty Towers experience - pleasant staff from around the world, and a clientele easily over 70. The WiFi is only accessible from the lounge & bar - but even then, only on a spotty basis. It did force us out of our tiny room into the main glassed in porch, where even the 70+ year old folks were upset they couldn't use their new tablets without good WiFi. Maybe the rooms that are on the first level are nice. We were clearly not their typical clientele, but if they hope to have a business after this group dies...they need to upgrade the experience to match the location.
