Called in on the off chance they would have a room and found the staff very obliging, double room, sea view, breakfast and dinner for two £118.Staff very quickly offered a packed lunch when we said we would have to leave too early for breakfast, which was very considerate. Beautiful building, but décor stuck in the 80's, dinner similarly, however, we're guessing the average age of the rest of the guests was between 75-80; I've never seen so many walking aids in one place, the hotel was obviously playing to it's market and the rest of the guests we heard were praising it to the hilt and seemed very much to have enjoyed their stay. Perhaps the fault was ours and we need to go back in another 30 years?

Room Tip: The sea views are worth paying for; beautiful sunset.

This hotel needs an overhaul. Getting a little shabby around the edges and definetly not the cleanest place. I wonder how it won a trip advisor award in 2012.and things go down hill so fast.
Not impressed with the front desk personal. Nice view of the water. No beach all big rocks but a nice promenade to walk on. No wifi inn the rooms. Room on second floor but when take elevator to second floor have to carry your luggage up about 5 steps. Did not realize limited parking. Surprised they let 3 tour buses park in their limited parking. Thought then could park other places, of course that is only way to get tour buses to stop here.

Room Tip: Really think about this place.

Just returned from a five day holiday with Alfa travel. First the good things about this hotel- the rooms are clean and pleasant [I would recommend paying extra for a sea view]. The bar area and restaurant are clean and well presented. Cleaning staff and bar staff are good. Great location right on the sea front and just a few minutes walk to the main shopping areas.
Now the bad points- service in the restaurant is poor, on the Monday of our visit, we went for breakfast at 8-20. No waiter attended the table and at 8-30 we had to summon a waiter to take our order. After the first course, no waiter attended. At 8-55 I had to walk further into the restaurant looking for a waiter. Eventually, at 9-00 we got served. Not the kind of service to promote a hotel. Regarding meals, these aren't too bad except for the main course at the evening meal. Portions are very small, vegetables are poor and badly presented. Didn't have sliced carrots, peas or split beans any time in the holiday. If you want good and plentiful food and good service, don't go here.

Room Tip: Sea view is recommende.

Llandudno itself is a pleasant place, along the coast in North Wales. Not nearly as cute & charming as nearby Conwy, the Great Orme (crescent) with its many ocean facing hotels is a throwback to a by-gone era. We booked thru Booking.com, because we couldn't find rooms in Conwy. Getting here is itself an endeavor - missed the train to Llandudno from Llandudno Junction, waited 30 minutes for a taxi, which we were grateful to get. Once here, on a dark and stormy night, the hotel had stopped serving dinner at seven but got us a taxi into the main part of town. Our room itself was up and down and around - in what we discovered used to be the servants quarters back in the Victorian era. Small, with a small window high up, the sheets felt like the worst grade linens possible, and the faded sad brown pilly blankets made me avert my eyes. Staying here is sort of like a Fawlty Towers experience - pleasant staff from around the world, and a clientele easily over 70. The WiFi is only accessible from the lounge & bar - but even then, only on a spotty basis. It did force us out of our tiny room into the main glassed in porch, where even the 70+ year old folks were upset they couldn't use their new tablets without good WiFi. Maybe the rooms that are on the first level are nice. We were clearly not their typical clientele, but if they hope to have a business after this group dies...they need to upgrade the experience to match the location.

Hydro Hotel is situated just across the road from the stunning expanses of beach and our room (with sea view) had a great view of the Great Orme and pier. First impressions are good, the hotel grounds are well kept and welcoming and the Reception staff always with a welcoming smile. In fact each and every staff member we met was happy, courteous and very polite. The hotel has a bar & sitting lounge just off of Reception and has long galleries along the front of the hotel where you can sit and chat/read a book/play a game (from the selection on offer in the games room).
We stayed for 4 nights and found the food to be superb quality. We paid at Reception each day for our evening meal and for £15 for 3 courses and not having to set foot outside, it was well worth it. I like the way that you have a set table number throughout your stay, you get to know the staff, and they you. This also means you sit at the same table for breakfast and dinner. Dinner is usually a choice of 5 main courses including a Chef's Special you have to order in advance (usually at breakfast that day). The table service and food were excellent andit is very highly organised with breakfast/dinner served in a one hour slot each day.
Our room was on the far right hand side of the hotel as you look at it and as such a very peaceful area. It also had a sea view which I highly recommend. Rooms on the left hand side may be above theballroomand possibly noisy if you want an early night! The hotel does have a lift but be aware it has multiple split levels, if mobility is an issue. The ballroom is large with enough seating (just) for large amounts of people and each night's entertainment is posted on the board opposite Reception. Music is of course aimed at the older generation but very enjoyable and the bingo played throughout the evening is a lot of fun too (and addictive!). There is also a bar in the ballroom, which is in addition to the one in Reception. The latter of which also serves toasted sandwiches etc for lunch which were very nice.
Heating in the rooms is quite old fashioned radiators and these were not set to come on at all during the evening, only in the morning, but overall the room was not cold. It was a good size with a good sized bathroom and comfy beds. Cleaning standards were excellent. The hotel does also have a wheelchair lift to access the entrance as there is a flight of steps. We found the hotel to be well sign postedinternally and very helpfully to sell postcards and stamps in the Reception.
Most of all the staff make this a great hotel, but the food is faultless and the hotel, although it shows its age, has very adequate facilities and I would most certainly come back again.

Be sure to take the cable car or tram tot he top of the Great Orme when in Llandudno. Also, eat one night at Mamma Rosa's Italian Restaurant - walking distance from the hotel and the best food I've had - ever!

Room Tip: The sea view is definitely worth the extra money. Rooms near the ballroom (left side of hotel) could...
