Visited the hydro for 4 nights ved breakfast and evening meal and it was lovely, great staff , lovely food with a great selection to choose from ,fantastic entertainment, lovely and clean in all areas and our room was very comfortable and well equipped with a lovely sea view. We booked independently (not a coach holiday) and we definitely made a great choice and will definitely visit the Hydro again in the future. Well done to the Hydro and all the fantastic staff members.

We stayed for 4 night break in August on an Alfa coach trip. We immediately felt at home and comfortable in this hotel, just as we had done on a previous stay. The Hydro hotel is in a good setting on sea front and not far to walk to the shops. The public rooms are very pleasant and decorated in original style.
The entertainment was good but we chose to go in after the Bingo and quiz had finished. The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. Our room was quite large and nicely decorated and we had a nice view at the back of the hotel and the room had everything we needed. The hospitality tray was replenished daily. The Breakfasts and Dinners were ok with varied menus but we felt the dinners were not to the same standard as we had last time. There were some other coach parties in the hotel and the meal times were well organised in the Restaurant with good service by the pleasant waiters/waitresses .The bathroom was roomy with a very good shower . Good cleanliness.

I would recommend the hotel to friends.

The hotel is dated but very clean and the staff are sound, the lift is rubbish, our room was very good great views, good bathroom with good shower. The breakfast was good great service,we decided to book an evening meal,it was crap,l ordered the fish and chips,l thought being at the seaside it would be fresh fish,it was frozen and tastless, the chips were frozen (my pet hate) and the were rubbish,my wife had tuna fish salad,it was very cheap tuna,we left most of our main meal, very poor.

Room tip: Sea views are essential

Went for the weekend Friday to Monday booked with Alfa but drove down. Our triple room was on the ground floor which we thought was good but it wasn't a patch on the triple room we had on our last visit. Very tired and in need of an overhaul.
The staff were friendly and helpful but I have to say the food was greatly lacking; bland and tasteless with watery soup, watered down breakfast juice. I asked reception for a coffee one afternoon but was told I had to wait until the bar opened at 4 o'clock, even though a notice on the bar said coffee could be bought at reception!
The lounge furniture needs cleaning and the hotel in general is in serious need of some TLC. So so disappointing.

We only stayed in the hydro for one night thank god the linen and towels where clean and the staff friendly .The rest of the hotel was dingy and dirty , the furnishings are old and some very dirty you actually stick to the carpet in some places as it's so dirty. The cobwebs in our room, well if you can call it a room covered the ceiling . At 84 pound a night we expected a bit more the windows in our wouldn't stay open and the room was hot in the end we propped the windows open with a book . One thing we know for sure we want be going back ..
