I am quite astounded at some of the negative reviews of this hotel, it's as though the writers thought they were going to a Four Seasons hotel not a seaside family hotel. The trouble with a lot of reviewers is you do not rate hotels within their class and not against something that simply cannot be compared with it - a bit like comparing apples with pumpkin!

As someone who has done the entire gamit of hotels across the world - including Four Seasons Hotels in Australia, Canada, Hawaii and Kuala Lumper (not reviewed by me on Trip Advisor as these stays were before I took to reviewing) when I go to a seaside hotel in Wales I review it as a seaside hotel in Wales.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in 2013. It is very obvious that this is a family hotel whose market is largely working class retirees from the North and service it provides meets the expectations of these groups. We actually enjoyed the ocassional chats we had with some of the Northerners because they spoke of a world we don't know a lot (enough?) about.

As to the hotel itself. It is conveniently located between the sea and the train station. The room was clean and comfortable and only recently redecorated. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The entertainment was not to our taste but we weren't there to be entertained and it didn't interfere with our stay.

Perhaps the hours for breakfast are a little restrictive - they are obviously scheduled to deal with groups from bus tours which is understandable given that groups are probably the hotel's bread and butter trade. It was not a problem for us as we preferred to rise late and have brunch in the town. We were on a break from the city so we weren't into rushing to get up and we are not "full English (Welsh?) breakfast" people in any case.

In summary, this hotel served our short break purposes perfectly well and was excellent value for money. The Evans Hotel is what it is - a pleasant well located hotel and a good location.

Room Tip: No advice on rooms but suggest that if you take the tram up the Great Orme get off and visit the pre...

Spent 5 days with a group and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was after reading some indifferent reviews. Staff were good, food was reasonable and the entertainment excellent. This is a lovely part of our country to stay, and definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

We have just returned from a really fantastic weekend at the Evans Hotel. The food was great, a good choice and served hot. The room was very clean, lovely white towels and with plenty of tea and coffee. The staff were very good, polite and efficient. The entertainment was great, we enjoyed a dance and laughed plenty, we could not have asked for anything more. Already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you.

Just got back from a lovely weekend at the Evans Hotel. It was out first time there and we would defiantly go there again. The hotel was clean, warm and the food was of a very good standard with a varied choice. The staff were friendly and helpful to ensure our stay was enjoyable.
The location was ideal only a minute or two from the shops both the old town and the new shopping complex. Thanks Pete and Carol for a great weekend.

Made our annual visit to The Evans Hotel, this February to celebrate 2 peoples 50th Birthday ,we were served with the usual outstanding food, all served piping hot and promptly, with a varied choice. The entertainment was great and everybody enjoyed a good dance. We had a fancy dress theme on the Saturday evening which was welcomed by all staff. There is free wi fi available in bar and entertainment areas which was great for the older children within the party. The rooms were clean and tidy, been going for the past 10 years now and always had a great stay, and always look forward to our next visit. You are located between the old shopping area of Llandudno and the new area which is fantastic as you park up and don't need to use your car the weekend. It was a really cold weekend, but as usual, the hotel was very warm and welcoming.

rooms small,no hot water 3 out of the 5 days, therefor was unable to shower before evening meal, had to have a wash in cold water, not even tepid, owner of the hotel said they were having trouble with the boiler, food small portions, cold and swimming in gravy.it took the waitress3 trips to kitchen to get my breakfast order right.Bought raffle tickets for a charity which the owner said was for a holiday at his hotel for 2 people, before the owner drew the ticket he said he was cancelling the holiday as the sale of the tickets had only generated £5oo pounds,so there were 2 prizes of £3o pounds,I pointed out that he could not do that under the gaming laws,he got very stroppy and said he could do what he wanted.I call that Disrespect to his guests.
