stayed for the first time at the tynedale,& i must say the service from start to finish was very good.
parking was no problem,room,29 with sea-view was a snip, lift to room, bar area well presented, entertainment was on every night but if you did not want that then there are rooms to go and sit in away from the music, very well laid out all round.
Claire on reception was helpful in every way & always found time for a chat & a smile even when the coach trippers where all around the foyer asking questions(lovely temperment)
yes a highly recommendedhotel on the front

Room Tip: book sea view room if possible

recently stayed at the Tynedale arriving on a friday and staying two nights, need to arrive reasonably early if you are to park on the promenade. First impressions were good, friendly welcome and promptly booked in and shown to the Room. Very clean and also well furnished bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful and with very pleasant staff. There is an area in front of the Hotel where you can sit out and watch the world go by. Enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to visit again

Room Tip: Room with sea view would be the best option

6 - 7th October. Was met at the private car-park by a nice gentleman who took our suitcase from the boot of our car - nice gesture but would have been nice to have been asked. He was very friendly and made us feel very welcome.and then took us to reception. Even though we had arrived early well before checking in time, about 11am, they advised they would take our case to our room and it would be ready in 15 mins and would we like some tea or coffee. We declined as this as was such a lovely day and wanted to stretch our legs. When we returned to the hotel we were given our key and went to our room. Room was nice and modern, but was disappointingly at the back of the hotel. Bathroom let down by the shower curtain being beside the toilet ugh ! and a plastic bin. Water was lukewarm and the television would not switch channel or off. We reported both of these to reception who said the water issues was probably down to the time and everyone was using, whilst they quickly sorted out the tv. Under the stairs was housed a number of disability scooters that guest could hire. (though not sure if this was a good location) Entertainment was laid on during the evening, not to our taste but most seemed to not notice the singing was out of tune, and a free buffet for all the guest which was lovely and a nice thought. In the morning we were woken by the seagulls, to be expected of course, and th soud of bottles bracking as they were thrown into a skip ...lovely. When we went down to breakfast we were shown our table which was in an alcove and we could not help but notice that this was also a fire escape ! A table was very close at the side to us and goodness knows what would have happened if there was a fire as due to the number of tables in the room it would be quite difficult for the people of a certain generation to have escaped. Breakfast was good though, a good choice though the eggs were overdone. Would we stay again ... the jury's out as good value for money but concerned over the Health and Safety Issues these novices saw !

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view !

Thank you for your recent review. I am delighted you seemed to enjoy the majority of your stay based on your overall score of Very good for our hotel. However I am most concerned by your review headline and feel I must respond as you could quite easily put an awful lot of people off booking my hotel based on your ignorance of our health and safety / fire safety policies and procedures.
Should you have taken the time to ask to speak to me or any member of my management team before leaving our hotel and before airing your derogatory comments with the rest of the world!! Your concerns could have quickly been answered and we could have provided you with a full risk assessment for the area and more significantly the table in question. Our risk assessments are hazard spotted and written by health and safety / fire safety independent advisors specialising in the hotel market and commissioned by myself to make regularly checks of our premises. We also receive unannounced visits by the local fire authority. Our risk assessments are reviewed annually or earlier and have been since the regularity reform of 2005.
We could have also walked you around the restaurant and showed you the two additional fire exits one of which has level access to the street. The capacity for the room in question is over 200 people however we have a maximum 100 guest using this area with three fire exit evacuation points.
You also comment that we hire out mobility scooters which we most definitely do not! However we have a duty under the disability discrimination act to assist our guests with mobility problems. We therefore allow a small number of mobility scooters to be kept in the reception area and offer a charging point free of charge! if they brought one with them or hired one locally. A full risk assessment is also available to cover this area.
And finally I am the gentleman who brought your cases up from the car park to your bedroom apparently without asking you. Please speak to your partner as you arrived to the front of the hotel I met him at the reception he was directed to the car park where it was said that I would meet him and find him a parking space as we were getting rather busy and assist him with your luggage. I am sorry if this was the wrong thing to do but after 20 years in the business it’s the first time I have been reprimanded for carrying a guest suitcases, sorry you did not hear the conversation that took place prior.
Where ever you stay in the future please give the hotelier the opportunity to answer any queries or concerns you may have during your visit if they can’t then by all means write what you like online at least you’ll know your review has substance.
Yours sincerely
Nathan Midgley

The owners of the hotel are the most hospitable hoteliers i have ever met, the hotel is 3 star but should be more of a 4 -5 star everything was a complete delight, the rooms are stunning- certainly not what you would expect from a welsh seaside resort! clean to perfection and meals were perfectly presented and tasted very good. A REAL hidden gem.

On arrival at the hotel, we were invited into the lounge and bar area where we enjoyed a large slice of home made Victoria Sponge and tea or coffee. When we got to our rooms the luggage had been taken up for us.The room was very spacious, large bed, tea and coffee facilities, flat screen TV and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space.
The evening meals and the breakfasts were excellent with a very good selection of courses, the porridge is a speciality, maple syrup and whisky?
The staff are excellent, Reception, Waiters, Barstaff, Cleaners, nothing was to much trouble.
We all enjoyed the evening entertainment. very good singers and comedian
The weather wasn't very good, but our driver, Mike, did everything to make our excursions as enjoyable as possible.
I would recomend a stay at this hotel, in fact we have already booked for next July

Room Tip: Most of the people at the hotel when we were there seemed very happy with the rooms. A sea veiw wil...

For the second year running, I stayed at this excellent sea-front hotel. In a central position (right opposite the bandstand) this really is a gem. My single room was very comfortable and quite spacious and the en suite facilities were so bright and shiny you almost needed sunglasses to go in there! The basement restaurant (have no fear there is a lift for the less mobile) is well appointed and the meals were all excellent. The bar and lounge are comfortable and there is entertainment after dinner. But casual travellers beware - the hotel is very popular with coach companies (I was with one such party) with 2 parties usually staying there at a time so vacancies may be hard to come by. Which in itself is a very good indicator of the quality of this hotel.
