“Early New Years Eve!!!”
Reviewed 20 October 2009

We arrived at The Queens and were surprised to find the hotel decorated for Christmas (as were some other hotels in Llandudno). We booked in and were told our room was on the second floor, but not told where the lift was or any other details about dinner or breakfast times etc. We found our bedroom to be warm, large, with 2 windows overlooking the sea. The room was very clean and tidy the bedding was also very clean and the bed comfortable. We went down for dinner at 6.30 as instructed in the hotel information folder , as did about another 70 guests as there is only one sitting. We were again surprised to find paper Christmas napkins and Christmas presents.
The meal was 4 courses- we chose cod and prawn fish cakes with a chilli dip, ham and lentil soup, roast beef dinner, banana and nut sundae followed by coffee. Dinner was basic but everything came very hot and was quite acceptable. The kitchen and waiting staff were very well organised as the whole 4 courses only took just over an hour and a quarter. Something that we have never come across before was to be asked what we would like for breakfast the next day also at breakfast if you are staying for dinner you are asked to pre order that. The system seems to work. The evening entertainment was a man DJ and his lady assistant . We played 2 games of bingo, a name that tune quiz appropriate for the age group 60/75. After party dances at 10 o clock it was " New Years Eve" with balloons , party poppers and complimentary mince pies and champagne. In conclusion we found the hotel clean and tidy but in need of updating, the food basic but good tor the price paid. (£65.00 D.B.B. for 2)

We didn't stay at The Queens, just had a meal there one night. It looked so promising from the outside but once inside we were amazed to see all the Christmas decorations out (middle of October). It got worse when we went to the restaurant. As soon as we had sat down our nice green napkins were taken off us and replaced with ones with holly on. Christmas crackers were on each table. The food was average, nothing special at all and it just seemed very depressing to see all the decorations out so early. We asked for a jug of water but were told they didn't do jugs, we could only have a glass (very strange). The wine waiter went round each table before then going to get the drinks so by the time our bottle of wine arrived we were well into the meal. Any later and I would have refused to pay for it. Decor was very dull and the staff seemed to be as depressed as we felt!

Please, October is too soon for Christmas festivities

We've just returned from a short break at the Queens hotel, we have been on a number occasions and always found it to be first class. Noticably there were some families there this time, usually there are couples ranging from their early fifties upwards.
The service is second to none, alway's there to help you with any problems that might arise, polite and courteous serving staff, wonderful reception, and good entertainment.
We be returning again.

We stayed on a Saturday night for a pleasant stay. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was typical of the type found in resorts such as Scarborough, Llandudno etc. In their day they would have been top notch but now a little jaded. I would recommend this hotel for the older generation looking for bingo and ballroom dancing.

having spent 3 days (30 dec-2nd jan ) at this hotel i have nothing but praise for the celebrations on new years eve.
the clientel where of the older generation ,
the meals in the resturant where superb with attentive service and a good varied menu ,also included where gifts each night we stayed a nice thought,
on the minus side the parking was a mess and i was blocked in for the stay even though i tried to get out.(why you have to pay for on street parking is beyond me)
we had a twin bedded room which dispite the freezing weather out side was very warm ,unfortunatly one of the mattresses had seen better days .and the bath room was tiny.
