Description: The cafe is located right near the beach and Llandudno pier. We have an ice cream kiosk outside and offer a take out menu (which can be subject to waiting times during busy periods). Our most popular dish is fish and chips, a seaside classic! The staff are a close knit bunch with many of us returning year after year! We are a friendly bunch and there is a real family atmosphere amongst the staff. A few of the staff are even actually related! We have a fantastic health rating of 5 stars and many of our senior staff have a collection of health and safety certificates which can be seen on the wall downstairs. We have plenty of space with 16 tables inside, 3 outside and even space downstairs! There are two kitchens, the fish and chips are cooked separately downstairs. They are that popular we need an extra kitchen to cook them in! The main downfall is that the bathrooms are downstairs but we always offer assistance navigating the stairs or directions to the nearest ground floor bathroom!

“The Seagulls have more manners!!!”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Went to visit Llandudno for the day with my family, we had been on the pier for a nice walk round when our little girl who is 3 years old wanted a portion of chips and we were looking for somewhere to sit down for ten minutes and enjoy a quick portion of chips together. We had the unfortunate pleasure of stumbling across Holmes Place, We walked in with our picnic bags that we had from earlier in the day and our bucket and spade. We walked in and were welcomed by the manager a older lady with dark hair and glasses who looked us up and down like we were not welcome, I went to order a couple of portions of chips and was replied, with is that it? We sat there for 20 minutes waiting for two small portions of chips they eventually arrived and served by the brightest point of the experience a young blond girl who was well mannered compared to the manager and other waitress with piercings in her face who seemed scared of her manager. This manager seemed to focus all her attention on the older generation and as soon as they entered the café she would pounce on them with the fakest smile you could imagine with pound notes ringing in her head. After eating our chips I went to pay for the chips and were astonished that two small portions of chips would cost £4.40, I wasn’t sat on the King’s Road in London I was sat in a back street café in Llandudno. Holmes Place needs to realise that it is not a high end restaurant it is a little café with a ice cream shop attached If you over 65 please beware as this management team are coming to get your cash!!!!

I am sorry that you found the manager to be unpleasant, she is actually a nice woman. Many of us ask "is that everything" to confirm we have got the whole order and won't miss some of it, I assure you it wasn't meant to come across as rude!
I am shocked you found her to be insincere as she actually has the most experience in hospitality and is generally really pleasant.
Many of our customers are elderly as Llandudno is a popular day trip venue for the elderly. So I suppose in a way yes we do want their money so we can keep our business going!
As to the pricing, Llandudno is not the cheapest place to eat out in unfortunately and we are no more expensive than many of the other cafes around Llandudno.
I am sorry your visit was not pleasant and hope you enjoyed the rest of your day.

I came in yesterday with my family. Had the cod meals and they were lovely!! Just the service was a bit on the odd side. Young girl with blonde hair served us. Pleasant enough but no niceties. Usually the manager that comes to serve us as we've been in before. Always greets us. We will be back thank you all.

“Good value "caff"”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 via mobile

You can't go wrong for 4 adult fish and chip meals, teas and soft drinks for just under £30. This place is a normal cafe with no airs and graces but just does good value food. We have paid a lot more for a lot less (quality and quantity) at other more trendy establishments. Pleasant enough efficient service. Don't expect refinements it's just a caff - but a good one.
