“Small plate but good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

We decided on fish tram chips as we have been quite a few times but 1st time this year, as I had forgotten my reading glasses & could not read the menu properly we decided on the fish special at £8.60 or something like that - fish chips mushy peas, bread & butter & tea for the 2 of us, food came on small plates small serving of chips small fish pot of peas & a little paper pot of tartare sauce - yes the food couldn't be faulted but we then noticed the next table had much bigger fish & their chips came in a basket, when we paid with a £20 note & noticed the change we thought we had transversed to London as it was quite expensive for what we had. I'm glad it was only 2 of us eating not 4 like the other table

Thanks for your review, yes the meal you mentioned is our special set meal for £8.60 (I wouldn't call this expensive for cod, chips, peas and either tea or coffee), it does state on the menu suitable for a smaller appetite so if you were looking for a larger portion then I agree this wouldn't have been my recommendation and would have suggested our regular cod and chips.

“Tasty Fish and Chips”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

Loved our meal at Fish Tram Chips, just what we needed after a descent from the Orme.
Very tasty cod and chips and served beautifully, the chips come in a mini frying basket, very cute.
Retro pop served in jars made for a delightful dining experience.

“Good quality fish- shame about the dogs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014 via mobile

Really tasty fish served at very reasonable prices. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Added bonus because peroni was unexpectedly served on draft. The only reason I rate it as 3/5 was because firstly I wasn't too keen in the chips- they seemed a little dry and like oven chips to me (though I know they weren't- clearly just the style as noted by other comments and I appreciate we could have asked for more but I suspected it's just the style of chip). I was also surprised to see 2 dogs in the top half of the restaurant. I didn't realise it was a dog friendly place as I possibly wouldn't have eaten here but probably my fault for not checking (they weren't dogs for the blind either). One last note- the place is quite small so better for groups of 4 or less. Thanks for the quality fish though!!

Thank you for your review, great to hear you enjoyed the fish but such a shame our chips weren't for you. As with previous comments our chips aren't greasy so won't be soggy like some 'Chinese style' chip shop chips (that's a mouthful!) but we prefer to serve a crisp chip with fluffy centre. Yes we do allow dogs in the top half of the cafe area and again sorry you didn't like this. Many thanks

“Best Fish & Chips in Llandudno :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

Googled best fish & chips in Llandudno and up popped Fish Tram Chips so just had to try it...little bit of a walk uphill to get there but the cafe/restaurant is right next to the tram you get up the Great Orme so as we were going on the tram we had lunch in Fish Tram Chips first....the day we went it was very cold amd drizzly so being inside out the rain was good start. Both myself and my husband had traditional fish (cod),chips and peas and it was gorgeous. The fish
was pure white and cooked perfectly with a thin crispy batter....chips were very good also, husband had a side of curry sauce which he said was very nice. Our daughter doesn't eat fish so had sausage which she said was lovely also. We had our 2 year old nephew with us so we ordered him the childrens fish and chips and I was suprised that it was so well presented and not that much smaller than mine...mmmy nephew loved the fish and finished every bit....he doesnt really like chops much but ate a couple before asking for some of my fish. We all thought it was truly yummy and a great lunch before our trek up the great orme .......staff were very good and very pleasant and their old fashioned pinnies were a great touch. We will definitely be back :)
