Very nice public areas. Restaurant good. Staff Good. Rooms disappointing; rather worn and could be cleaner. Noisy heating systems.

I've stayed in around twenty different hotels in Llandudno so I feel I am well qualified to submit a review. The hotel has recently had its poolside restaurant and spa area rennovated with fantastic results. The poolside restaurant is fantastic value at £15 per person for three courses and wine! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding, in fact I think its the best service I have ever recieved at a restaurant.

The spa, swimming pool and gym are all virtually new and make the hotel stand out from others in Llandudno. I only booked a budget room (thats all that was left!) but I was most impressed with the room, I felt the room was only budget in size. The decoration, the bathroom and most of all the traditional features ensure that once you have stayed here you will not want to stay anywhere else in Llandudno. (Osbourne House has larger suites but not the facilities of the empire). The only downside of my trip is that there were some minor works going on to some of the rooms, I understand these must be completed and therefore It didnt really affect my view of the hotel.

In summary once you have experienced the luxury of the empire hotel, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to stay anywhere else in Llandudno. I can't wait to return.

We stayed at this hotel in April for two nights on a friday and saturday. As we arrived we pulled up in front of the hotel to find out where the car parks were and there was a Bentley GT in front of us!! We thought well obviously this hotel attracts a high class of customer!!! We checked in and were directed to the car park and one word of warning the parking is at a premium and VERY snug. Mr Bently man was not happy leaving his car at all!.

Anyway on to the rooms, we had just a standard double room and it was very nice. Not much room but very nicely furnished, lovely modern bathroom, large flat screen tv on wall, dvd player, homemade biscuits in fridge and sherry!! (nice touch) We went out to eat that evening and to be honest it was quite early in the season and there wasn't a lot open but we found a pub across the road and it was quite nice.

The next morning we went down for breakfast and to be honest that was our only slight complaint. The staff weren't particularly friendly and there was a very poor choice on the buffet table. They brought the cooked breakfast to you and what there was was very nice but there wasn't a lot of it. don't get me wrong you won't go hungry but we're used to big help yourself buffets.

The tram stop to go up the the top of the Great Orme is just up the road and well worth doing. We also walked around the Great Orme and it was a lovely walk.

That night we ate in the poolside restaurant at the hotel. 3 courses, coffee amd small carafe of wine each for only £14.95, excellent value and it was very nice also. Excellent service for this meal. Both nights we had a DVD from the reception to watch in our room after our dinner.

On the whole we really enjoyed our weekend in LLandudno, the town is an old fashioned type of seaside and it was nice to see old touches like a pinch and judy show on Saturday.

Lovely hotel, in a great location near the shops and the beach. The rooms are beautifully decorated, antiques are everywhere and the bartender is a consummate professional. We'd recommend it to anyone BUT...whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances stay here during the annual Victorian Extravaganza (apparently it's always the first Bank Holiday in May). A fairground goes up the street, right up to the hotel, and the noise is really unpleasant (unless you actually enjoy listening to amplified music and general hullaballo, non-stop in your room). We'd definitely come back to this hotel again, but not on a May Bank Holiday!

Our second stay at the Empire. We stayed at the Town House next door room 86. Great room nice bed and lots of space.

Service at breakfast was speedy but the whole place lacked atmosphere. Staff didn't seem happy and the breakfast was off poor quality.

Shame really as everything else was wicked

Mum and I have just returned from a quiet girlie break pre baby arrival and couln't fault this hotel in any way. The hotel is extremely clean, the rooms are decorated beautifully with finishing touches such as gowns, swimming towels and complementary sherry on arrival. The 4 course evening meal is delicious with a fabuous choice from two menues and very generous portions. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and staff are very helpful and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

My husband and I have just returned from a four day stay at the Empire Hotel, it being a birthday present from my husband.
I must say that I was more than impressed with the Hotel, and the staff
The Hotel itself was fantastic, lovely comfortable beds, beautiful lounge area and dining room
Our twin room could have been bigger but it had everything one could need, tea/coffee facilities, fridge, large flat screened TV with freeview, safe, shoe cleaning material, even a glass of sherry each
As other reviewers have mentioned the owners have sourced loads of antiques and beautiful prints - one could spend hours just looking at these alone
The food was first class with plenty of choice, four courses in all and coffee - there were two menues to choose from, one which remained the same daily and the other chefs specials for the day
As for the staff they were brilliant, also one of the owners who was in the hotel most days either on reception or chatting to guests in the dining room, she had a ready smile for everyone - what a lovely personality
We cannot wait to return
