As a lone female who travels extensively around the country on business I have found The Empire unparralleled for excellent friendly unobtrusive service, breakfast is cooked to order not a nasty buffet. The rooms are beautifully appointed with lovely antique beds, fabulous showers and little extras like a fridge, leaf tea and "proper" coffee. I always feel comfortable there even in the public rooms and there is the added bonus of a spa. Ask to stay in No 72, but not when I'm coming!

We chose the Empire because of the reviews on this site and we weren't disappointed. Beautiful rooms, fabulous buildings, amazing furniture. the staff could not have been more helpful. And then there was dinner! If you are staying at this hotel for a number of nights then be very careful about dinner. The food is delicious and there is a generous amount of it.. If I ate it every night I would be very happy but leaving the size of a whale!
Breakfast offers a great choice so you can be a sensible as you like. Again very generous portion sizes and delicious food.
The only minor downside was the room itself didn't have air conditioning and it happened to be a warm night. We could have the windows open but owing to the age of the building they were quite noisy in the wind.
Overall a really lovely evening in a beautiful location and we were very well looked after, just what we needed between two hectic days!

This was a fantastic hotel to have a family reunion. It was our Dad’s 75th birthday and 23 of us arrived at the Empire Hotel in Llandudno to stay for two nights. Our rate was for Dinner, Bed & breakfast and Sunday lunch.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and staff. The rooms were of a high standard. The hotel is having a refurbishment at the moment but this was done discreetly so guests were not disturbed. The newly refurbished rooms were very nice indeed.

All rooms were air-conditioned and there was a small decanter of sherry and homemade biscuits to welcome us. Our room was a suite and had two LCD televisions. This was great as our son stayed in the same room and was able to watch different programmes to us.

The pool, gym and leisure facilities have been kitted out with the latest equipment and the older teenagers made good use of them.

The food was absolutely gorgeous! 23 of us sat at one long table for each meal including breakfast and the restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient. Every single meal we had was faultless and beautifully presented. The staff in the bars were also so helpful.

The hotel is 100 yards from the historic tram that takes you to the top of the mountain (the Orme). From here you have wonderful views of Llandudno and there is a café and bar at the top. We had some lovely liquor coffees and Hot Toddies!

The Empire is at the end of the main street in Llanduno and is in a great location. We would not hesitate to stay here again as we were very impressed with their hospitality and every member of our family enjoyed it immensely.

Having spent hours on the internet looking for the 'right place to stay' in Llandudno I wasn't disappointed with The Empire after reading reviews on TA.

I took my daughter and 1 year old grandson for a 3-night break over the August bank holiday, and couldn't have had a better time. The hotel is a beautiful old building, a bit quirky, but bursting with character. The room we had was big enough for 2 single (3/4) beds plus a cot,and still room to move around.

The decor and drapes were of luxurious quality, the rooms were always warm, and the little touches, such as the decanter of sherry, made all the difference from staying in a cheaper hotel, plus the beds were SO comfortable. You get what you pay for and, although not cheap, The Empire was worth every penny.

The pool was wonderful and never busy. The outdoor splashpool looked inviting but it would need to be very hot to venture in there, however a good suntrap when the weather is good.

The restaurant serves the most delicious food, and at a very reasonable fixed price of £19.95 for a 4 course meal.

The staff were excellent, friendly, efficent and welcoming.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone and, all being well,we'll be returning again next year.

P.S. Llandudno is a fabulous place to shop - a bonus on those rainy days!

We stayed in a very large room in No. 72 - not a suite, but still probably the biggest bed I've ever slept in, and all just *beautiful*. It is quite separate from the hotel, but it's a matter of seconds to the hotel itself so the only real inconvenience was having to dress after the pool, otherwise it was no problem at all. And the plus side is that the rooms are larger, I gather. Ours was very large indeed.

So many little details attended to - a choice of tea bags or loose leaf tea (a tea strainer was provided) was a pleasant surprise - and surrounded by such beautiful antiques. Things sloped interestingly, but whereas I've criticised another hotel for a sloping floor (which just felt dangerous), here, it all just added to the charm.

Super pool and gym facilities, though I wasn't too sure about been watched by some of the diners while swimming! But the pool area is so beautiful. Excellent resource with the TV and DVDs available for borrowing from the hotel too. Excellent free wifi too.

This was something of a chance discovery, and what a lucky one it was. We were only there a couple of days, so there was so much we didn't get to do. I suspect that we will be back before too long. And for longer this time, too.

I have reviewed the Empire previously. Having stayed quite a few times at the "Empire", means they must be doing something right. Actualy they do everything right. Our return visit was with our family, a party of nine, including three teenage grand-children. Service as always was very good and everyone sems to remember you from previous visits. A well placed table for nine was arranged in the Watkins restaurant for all our dining. The varied and changing menu caters for everyones requirements, We all enjoyed the dining experience. The new swimming pool and spa is now completed and our family enjoyed some time in the pool. On Saturday evening we were entertained by the resident pianist, in the bar & lounge. If you require that little bit extra, then The Empires the place to go. Our ages were from 15 to 70 and we really did enjoy. Service and quality abound and you are made to feel at home.

Thank you Elyse and Team Empire for catering for our every need.

We arrived for a two night stay and had booked a Superior room as we were ready for a good break with a bit of luxury. When we were shown to our room the first impression was tired and in need of a spring clean, the grout in the shower was discoloured and both the sink and the shower had a build up of dirt in those hard to reach places- ie under the rim of the sink and around the hinges on the door. The water took a good while to clear from the sink and shower making it necessary for a quick shower to avoid flooding the bathroom floor. The bulb over the shower was out. The pillows were discoloured beneath the pristine pillow cases and the 4 magazines placed in the room dated back to 2000. There were large cracks in the plaster on the walls. More seriously the fire detection had been removed from the room as a new system was being installed, when an electrician was called to replace the absent detector he admitted he didn't know if it would work and failed to test that it did. On the outside of the building adjacent to our room was the external fire escape. The wall here had bricks removed and to our horror we heard pigeons in the roof void of our bedroom, on further investigation we observed pigeons entering and leaving the void, these could be heard scurrying around in the ceiling of our bedroom. We were offered a different room but declined to take it as our overall experience at the Empire was a poor one. On a positive note the staff were pleasant and the character of the hotel was lovely.
